It’s time for another color challenge at the Colour Inkspiration Challenge group! Please join in – we love to share and enjoy each other’s creations. For the next two weeks, all projects shared will use this fresh, Spring color palette:
It was a little hard to work with a palette that didn’t have a green, but I actually really love how this turned out. I am grateful to this color challenge group; I have really learned so much about color by pushing myself to use combinations I’d never dream up myself.
I went a little with the unexpected and pulled out the On the Horizon bundle, one that I just adore. I feel like the images in this set you can just combine to make a simple or complex scene and they just work.
It might be easy to feel like once the New Horizons papers have been used up or aren’t available, that the set isn’t as useful, so I wanted to showcase how to use the stamps and dies in a completely different color palette.
I also tried a horizontal version, which is my preferred card format. I used two sets of the dies for this one, which is quite nice to add a little extra depth to the scene.
The background is watercolored with all four colors in the color challenge. I then used Fresh Freesia cardstock for the mountains and the Pool Party glitter paper for the water.
When the card design itself is relatively clean and simple, it’s nice to add in a bit of visual or actual texture, such as the two layers on the mountains and the rough and sparkle on the glitter paper.
