One day recently, a person at the gym had a beautiful thermos (it’s winter here) in a Sahara Sand color with rich, wine colored roses on it. It was gorgeous. And I thought – that’s my inspiration for this hop project!
I use a LOT of white in my crafting, so once in a while, it’s nice to challenge myself to design a card that uses not a speck of white nor vanilla. I’ve only used Sahara Sand, Merry Merlot, and the Distressed Gold Foil for cardstock here.
I wanted those beautiful roses to be vibrant, even when stamped on Sahara Sand. I stamped them first with Merry Merlot, then re-stamped the centers with Blackberry Bliss. And as a final step, I’ve stamped the rose a third time with Versamark and added a layer of clear embossing powder.
Adding the clear powder not only really deepens the color, but adds a lot of shine. I decided I’d only do the roses like this, so the leaves aren’t also shiny. I thought that might be too much shiny on one card.
