Today’s share is three great ideas for using up those strips and bits of papers we all have. Using these ideas, you can use up every single bit of your favorite papers!
I’m using Bloom Impressions paper for these examples—its small prints make it perfect for scrap-friendly designs. Even better: this pack of paper is FREE with a qualifying order with me during February!

For my first idea, I was inspired by a similar card from Crafty Rootes. I changed up a few elements to suit my style, but I loved their idea of using so many of the colors together. I’m quite conservative in my color choices, and I don’t think I would have been brave enough to put all these together if I hadn’t seen their gorgeous sample first!
Idea #1: Use strips of equal (or unequal!) widths and create a patch work background. Leave a small gap between each print. Best results with a small print.

Idea #2: Next, I created a background without a gap and used fewer prints. By packing them in tightly, it looks more like it’s one piece of paper with a striped pattern.
I really like this, too. Basically, you can use all your small pieces to create one striped piece. I think what appeals, too, is that you can make a printed paper basically in any color combination you wish with this idea.

Take this up a notch by embossing the papers. Just like top stitching on a quilt, embossing adds texture and a cohesive pattern that seamlessly ties all the strips together.

Idea #3: Adhere the Bloom Impressions strips on a piece of cardstock in an organized or a haphazard pattern (as above). Then use that strip for die cutting. I die cut my piece with the large Hearts of Elegance die. Try die cutting with a more delicate die for a very different effect, too!
