Today’s share is inspired by the talented CreatedtheOttaway and her locking box design. I made up my samples before I saw her measurements, so my sizes and assembly are slightly different, but feel free to adjust the sizes to suit you.
For my sample, I’ve used the Simply Zinnias papers, and the Simply Zinnias stamps and dies.
The locking box is a clever little idea where the box and lid have a slit, so the mechanism (the flower in this case) slides up to hold the lid down, or slides down to release the lid.
I found the design seems to work best if the moving part is fairly 3D, so this multi-layered flower from the Simply Zinnia bundle worked well.
The Simply Zinnia papers and the Simply Zinnia dies make a bright, cheerful gift set.
I don’t tend to make a lot of boxes personally, but when I do, I feel they should have a simple coordinating card to go with it. After all, it’s likely what’s in the box is a gift of some sort, so a small notecard or a full sized card wouldn’t go amiss.
I used the same print on the card as I used on the box, so they match perfectly. I quite like this print because of the white background, which makes the flowers really vibrant.
