Today’s share is another card with the beautiful Mixed Media Florals, this time in a little softer colors and in watercolor. The tulip and posy images are fairly “open”, so they are great for coloring techniques:

For the first version, I watercolored with Moody Mauve to coordinate with the Moody Mauve print from the Timeless Plaid papers (love these!). AND don’t you like that Plaster Painting embossing folder? I love that little “tape” edge along the bottom of it. It’s a great “mixed media” look behind the pretty flowers.

I don’t claim to be fabulous at any sort of coloring, but I think that’s actually what I like best about watercoloring: leaving white space and imperfections is sort of the look! Plus, I’ve always enjoyed how the colors change when diluted. And mixing them . . . so many possibilities!
But for this sample, I kept it pretty simple. Just Moody Mauve and a bit darker Moody Mauve for the flowers. Then I added a bit of Granny Apple Green and Shaded Spruce for the greenery. And Boho Blue for the little flowers.

For this sample, I used the brand new Woven Textures papers for a more neutral effect. These papers are very Kiwiana – check them out!
For the tulips, I used both Fresh Freesia and Highland Heather for a more two-toned effect. When I lived in Seattle, there were ALL sorts of tulips; ones that are this two toned do exist!

And for the final version, I used a small piece of the Mixed Media Florals papers, and this time I colored the tulips in with Stampin’ Blends.
