The self-locking box is a great project for gifting a small item, and it’s really quite easy to make. Inspired by Created the Ottaway, I created my version with slightly different measurements and using the Crafting with you stamps and dies:
The Crafting with You die and stamp set is a great one for this little project – perfect for putting some ribbons, embellishments, or some sewing supplies in a little box as a gift for someone crafty. Cute!
I’ve used the new Mediterranean Blooms papers here on the box, which will be available 1 May.
The little circle with the thread and scissors slides up and down to open and “lock” the box closed. Clever!
I found it was a good idea to reinforce the circles with a few layers, just for sturdiness since they will be handled.
My personal opinion: every box or small gift should have at least a gift card with it! So I made up this simple card, repeating the elements from the box and using up a few strips and scraps:
