Plus How to Tie a Bow! Today’s share includes five ways to use ribbon in your project, plus tips for creating an easy bow. These are certainly not the only ways to use ribbon, but I hope my tips help you feel more confident adding ribbon to your next project.
For my samples today, I’ve used the Inked and Tiled stamp set, along with the Twisted Rope Embossing Folder.
My most often asked question in classes is how to tie a bow, so I thought a quick video might help. In the video below, I show you how I tie bows, which is the easiest way I’ve found so far. It’s important you get the knot right to get your bow to sit correctly.
You can also select to just create a knot instead of a full bow. This does, of course, use less ribbon and creates less bulk, but doesn’t offer quite as much “fullness”. So it really depends on what you want the end result to be.
In the video below, I show you two ways to tie a know that uses minimal ribbon.
Another option would be to create a “Z” shape. This doesn’t require any tying at all, but it does require the use of a label of some sort.
I often opt to use Linen Thread instead of ribbon for a lighter effect. Linen Thread (or any twine) is fairly easy to tie, especially if you grew up tying shoelaces.
