One of my favorite ways to craft is to take a simple, yet attractive, card idea, and then step it up a few times while keeping the basic idea the same. It’s a nice way to “springboard” off an existing idea to get the creativity going!
The Stampin’ Up! catalog is a great place to look for inspirational ideas, and that’s exactly what I did for today’s post. I started by making the card as it is presented in the catalog with the Peaceful Season stamp and die set:
I actually quite like this overall idea. I like the color combination, the rustic feel, and I like the various textures going on. At the same time, the card is very quick to put together and clean in design.
So I took it up a level by adding a few more layers, the Timber Embossing Folder, and using the die cut for the Christmas word. The concept is the same, but just with a few more details.
Next, I tried some different variations with Gold Embossing Powder and adding in the Season of Elegance papers, a gorgeous set with a lot of gold foil detail. Personally, I love the die cut dipped in gold; it’s very rich looking!
For this version, I used the Drusy Embellishments, and I have to say: these are just stunning. They look like shattered glass and are REALLY sparkly. They don’t quite match the gold here, but they tone in very well with the trees.
