It’s time for the Global Video Blog Hop! And this month we are presenting a “must try technique”! I started out wanting to showcase the Black Ice technique, but got entirely distracted when I discovered what happens when you use our Stampin’ Blends (alcohol markers) on the Silver Foil!
I’ve chosen the Feels Like Home (free SaleAbration gift option) as my focal image:
First, to stamp on any foil or non-porous surface, you’ll need to use a solvent ink like Staz-On. Then make sure to give it a moment to dry because the ink moisture needs to evaporate rather than absorb into the paper.
I would suggest doing a little experimenting and practicing with your Stampin’ Blends on a scrap piece of your foil. You may find, as I did, that the Blends markers actually removes a bit of the foil and leaves a white highlight. I love how this looks!
It’s also fun and easy to create your own background paper. I chose the Brick & Mortar folder to tie in with those bricks right in the image. It was also an opportunity to bring all the main colors together to make the project cohesive.
As an extra, optional step, add clear embossing powder over top of the image to give it that icy, crackly look.

Hi Jacque. Loved this technique of ink on foil. Do you have a tutorial that I can buy off you please?
Jacque Williams says
I didn’t write a tutorial because it’s all in the free video. 🙂 It’s at the bottom of this post.
