Inspired by a sample in the SAleABration brochure, I wanted to use the Heart Shaped stamps and dies to create a card more suited to give to our male loved ones. I paired the heart stamps and dies with the Timeless Plaid paper for a color palette:

I quite like this color combination of Lost Lagoon and Mossy Meadow with a splash of Crumb Cake. I used the Lost Lagoon Two-Toned cardstock for the little flat so I could give it a light sanding on the edge to bring out a little more white.
I tend to like a lot of white in my projects, especially when the background and card base are both colored.

One fun technqiue in this project is the alteration of the sentiment. One of the stamps from the Heart Shaped stamp set reads “My heart loves your heart” .. . which is cute for a scrapbooking layout, but it’s not something I’d say. (not really my personality is all).
BUT if you use the brush tip of a Stampin’ Write Marker, you can ink up just the words and letters you want, so I was able to very easily change it to “My heart loves you”.
Not only can you omit things to make the sentiment work for you, but now all your word stamps have MANY more possibilities!
