I was inspired by a fun birthday card I received recently, and gave this fun fold card a try! I changed it up and used the Trimming the Tree classic tree image for the front for a head start on those Christmas projects:
This fun fold features very dimensional elements, but still fold up flat to fit inside the envelope. Brilliant!
For this first version, I wrapped the Elegant Trim (gold cord) around the tree for garland, thinking there were already a lot of dots on the card with the Texture Chic papers. In hindsight, perhaps a different print would have been better, but I do like the garland effect.
In another version of this card (I usually have several tries, in case any of you think you’re the only ones!), I did add the gems, but kept them somewhat muted with the Solid Faceted Gems.
I think a strongly contrasting colour or something sparkly might have been “dot overpower” with this particular paper.
For this one, I added a full sized, opening card to it, which does help the card stand up a bit better. I figured most Christmas and birthday cards are put on display, so that extra panel helps.
The two-step stamping feature on the Trimming the Tree image really adds wonderful detail. I’ve used Mint Macaron (light) and Evening Evergreen (dark) ink for the tree here.
