This month the All Star Design Team is featuring the Nature’s Prints stamp set (also included in the Sun Prints Suite). I wanted to try a fun and easy masking technique to make a bit of a Kiwiana card. Even if you are not from or are in New Zealand, a fern image is a lovely symbol of new life.
I wanted to go for a one layered card effect (but ended up adding a few more layers anyway!), so I masked the area for the sentiment rather than using a separate piece. This is quite a fun way to create a border around a white space for your sentiment.
Simple cut a post-it note or masking paper to the size you want your white space. Place on the cardstock. Stamp all around it, and then remove the mask. That gorgeous sentiment is from the Brightest Glow stamp set.
All the foliage images are from the Nature’s Prints stamp set. I just couldn’t resist using that beautiful fern image to make a Kiwiana Christmas card.
To add a bit more interest, I embossed with the Brick & Mortar Embossing Folder, but just around the stamped part, leaving the word area flat. It’s a nice effect, and all that detail is on just one layer!

Ooh! It’s wonderful – crisp and fresh looking. The flat sentiment on the brick and mortar embossing is so effective.
