Paula Dobson of StampinAntics invited me to participate in the Creative Blog Hop. I hope you enjoy this chatty post! Paula has been a huge asset to my team of demonstrators – a really talented lady who is also very dedicated and attentive to her own team. Some of the projects I’ve posted over the years here have been directly inspired by her! Here is some of her recent work:
I look forward to seeing her and her team in a few weeks!
Question 1: What am I working on right now?
Hmmm that’s like asking someone what they are getting you for Christmas! LOL! I’ve been working on and just finalized the Christmas Gift Voucher Card I will be teaching at our team Extravaganzas in Auckland, Tauranga, Hamilton, and Nelson.
I also have an all-day class this weekend I still need to design 2 of the 5 projects for, so will be working on that later today after I disassemble, clean, and reassemble the frig and pantry.
Plus on Saturday I have a Team Training here at my house, so I need to create my project to share with the group – something quick and effective, which are my personal favorite type of projects.
Question 2: How does my work differ from others in my genre?
I don’t think my work differs a great deal other than I know what I like and I know what I don’t like, meaning each of us a demonstrators will present something a bit different because we like different things. I prefer to spend a bit more time or expense on a project to deliver something of real quality. I’m no great artist, but I can generally put my own spin on someone else’s good design.
Question 3: Why do I create what I do?
To share it! Either as gifts, love letters in the post, or to share with a class or friends. As so beautifully taught in the movie, Into the Wild, “Happiness isn’t real unless it is shared”.
Question 4: How does my creative process work?
It’s different for each thing. Cards I generally will use two or three projects I like and create something somewhat unique. Scrapbooking Pages I put my heart and soul into – these I usually have a couple of pages as inspiration or a sketch in front of me. I pull out of my cupboards and drawers all the materials I think will possibly work and spread it all out over the table. I find the photos and then just go for it.
It generally involves making an enormous mess, takes about three days, and generates a lot of rubbish!
I nominate a couple of demonstrators on my team, Juliette Riddell and Paula Reid to carry on this blog hop.
Juliette is an amazingly talented lady who has a real eye for style, both in her art work and in her personal presentation. She’s hardworking and kind hearted, too.
Paula is another excellent person that I could lucky to have met in my life travels. She’s also very much a hard worker and a real team player, not to mention a talanted artist overflowing with enthusiasm!
Thanks for reading all the way to the end! I hope you’ve enjoyed this little journey and will visit these other ladies, too!
