Use Your Dies for Quick Coloring Hack!

Today’s share is a quick and fun project you can put together in no time, thanks to a simple coloring hack! For this sample, I paired the Painterly Pears papers with the Perfectly Pears stamps and dies.

The layout design comes straight from Sketch #20 (slimline variation) in the Design Spark sketch book—proof that inspiration is just a page away!

The Painterly Pears papers are so elegant—rich colors paired with a touch of sophistication. This card layout is one of my favorites because it really lets the different prints shine and coordinate beautifully together.

Since the background is a little busier, I kept the focal point fairly simple, but still added just enough detail to make it special.

While I admit pears aren’t a main image I’d probably think of myself, I do really like how this one turned out. And with this coloring idea, you can mix and blend any colors you want for a truly unique effect every time.

Coloring Hack Using Your Dies

  1. Stamp your image

  2. Using the die that coordinates with the image, die cut out the shape from a separate piece of paper.

  3. Using the negative die cut piece (the outline), lay it over your stamped image. Use Blending Brushes, daubers, or other medium to apply ink. Remove the mask.

  4. Die cut your image (if desired).
