The Global Video hop team has just released a new series of videos, and this time our theme was “stepped up cards”! I took this to mean taking a more simple card and adding to it.
I chose to use the beautiful Wisteria Wishes bundle, a fast favorite for me. I love both Wisteria and purples, so the designs came freely.
First, I started with the simple or quick version. All layers are Very Vanilla, with the Quatrefoil Embossing Folder in the background.
The flowers are two-step stamped, meaning there’s one image for the “base”, and another image stamped over the top to add detail. I’ve used Fresh Freesia and Highland Heather for a tone-on-tone sort of look.
The color variation in the leaves is integral in the stamp itself. I just love that! The stamp itself is etched so it stamps darker in some areas that others, so all you have to do is ink and stamp for such wonderful depth and detail.
My second version is stepped up a bit. For this version, I’ve added a few more layers with the Distressed Gold Paper and the upcoming Rustic Pumpkins paper. I’ve also gold embossed the words for a bit more texture.
On this version, I also used the wet wipe technique to create this fabulous “many colored” effect with the blossoms. I love how it turns out differently every single time.
And for my most stepped up version, I’ve incorporated the dies for a very dimensional card. The paper has been watercolored and then die cut, so each flower has slight color variations.

I’ve also made a quick video showcasing all three of these cards. I hope you enjoy everyone’s creations!
