Simple Emboss Resist Card Tutorial with Aspen Grove
Today’s share features the classic emboss resist technique, paired with the Aspen Grove stamp set. I probably would not have picked this particular color combination, but I was inspired and wanted to play along with the Colour Inkspiration Challenge #205.
I enjoyed the challenge of sticking to just Basic Gray, Berry Burst, and Granny Apple Green.

First, I heat embossed the Aspen Grove tree trunks in white on Fluid 100 Watercolor paper. Next, I gave it a light wash with very dilute Gray Granite ink.
I also diluted the Berry Burst and added a nice little sunset effect at the bottom, taking care to blend it out and to avoid the trees. I painted the trees with a concentration of Gray Granite ink. Once it was all dry, I stamped those leaves in Granny Apple Green.
It was actually pretty quick to make (see the 60 second demonstration below).

Another way I got a bit more color variation is by using the Two Toned Cardstock, which I absolutely love for pretty much everything.
Not only do you have a light and dark side, but the sanded edges can just visually lighten up (and break up) the colors.
I did an extensive techniques class all about the Two Toned Cardstock. You might also be interested in the heat embossing and the watercoloring technique classes, too.
