The Dainty Delight bundle was a first purchase out of the new Mini Catalogue, and I’ve found it quite inspiring for many projects. For today’s share, I want to show you how quick and easy Emboss Resist can be with a fabulous result.
To start, I white heat embossed the delicate wildflower image from the Dainty Delight stamp set on Watercolor Paper. This will be white on white, so the image is not obvious.
Next, brush diluted Crumb Cake ink over the image. The embossing will resist the water-based ink, while the watercolor paper will soak it up. The result: the image seems to appear out of nowhere!
Tip: wet the area you want to paint in first (with just water) for even better control of the ink.
Tip: Use the widest Water Painter to avoid getting brush stroke marks, if that is the desired effect.
More tips in the video below.
Next, you can add additional color to the image with the fine Water Painter.
How to Emboss Resist with Watercolor
- Stamp the image onto Watercolor Paper with Versamark. Cover in embossing powder, shake off excess, and heat to melt with a heat tool.
- Using a wide brush and water, lightly wet the area you wish to paint.
- Using a wide brush, apply a diluted water-based ink over the image and watch the image appear.
- Add more layers or more drops of ink to change the intensity of color. Let dry thoroughly.
