I’m not big into Halloween motifs, but this year Stampin’ Up! has put out a gorgeous “Halloween” paper, Magic in the Night, that has quite a few general prints, too! And they are gorgeous.
I used the sketch from the Sketch Challenge in the Scrapbooking Global – Stampin’ Up! Facebook group. It was a great starting point and was a good one to showcase these pretty papers.
For the embellishments, I wanted to use something other than flowers not only for something different, but also because there are already roses throughout the prints in this paper pack. So I chose to use one pretty little flourishes in the Christmas Layers die set (but not just for Christmas!).
Wondering about the ribbon? It’s the White Seam Binding Ribbon, which I colored in with the Light Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Blend. Easy! I really do think it’s a good idea to a have a roll (or two!) of that ribbon in your stash; you can then colour it with your markers or spritzers to suit your project. Very economical because you can just colour the amount you need.
Another fun goodie on this layout is the Metallic Mesh Ribbon, although it’s not really traditional ribbon. It’s a mesh of clear strands with the silver threads throughout. The effect is stunning . . . really great for holidays or just a bit of sparkle in your projects without the visual weight of a solid ribbon. So nice!! It was perfect here next to ball/prom photos.
On page two, I used those beautiful Ornate Layers dies to create a journaling space. To make the title bigger, I just used three smaller titles in a grouping. (The Well Written and Well Said are great ones for cards and layouts alike). No I wasn’t driving home that they were just friends, but they are really good friends and all those titles suited the photos.
I will be teaching this layout in my upcoming scrapbooking classes in Tauranga, Hamilton, Titirangi, Manukau, and Highland Park. Please join us!
