Living in New Zealand, we all have tons of beach and swimming related photos. I’m not normally so drawn to “kids” suites in the Stampin’ Up! catalogue, but the Whale Done Suite is exceptionally gorgeous. And I was so inspired by Gina Buelow’s layout she kindly shared on Facebook that I immediately ordered the supplies and create my own version of her gorgeous beach themed page.

Gina’s layout is the one I did on the left hand side with the textured circle and the beautiful ring of swimming sea creatures. My students in class prefer double layouts, so I added the second page with stripes, thinking that repeating a circle would look off balance.

I loved doing these rolled up edges, showing the other side of the paper, too. I love every print in the Whale Done Designer Series Paper, and don’t want to waste any of it.
The little guys swimming around are simply cut right from one of the prints! The tiny fish are stamped in Bumble Bee, and they are just adorable.

The big whale here is also right from the Whale of a Time printed papers, but you can use the Whale Punch for this big guy. I tucked a few beach and ocean elements behind from the Smooth Sailing dies, which coordinate so well with these images. And try fraying that Braided Linen Trim for more of a rope or a net look. So easy!

To carry the theme of the rolled edges to the coordinating second page, I continued with the rolled paper edges with the strips as well. Plus, this is a good way to make those 6×6 papers work on a 12×12 layout without needing to hide joins! Make those joins part of the embellishment and add to the beach theme.
I will be teaching this layout in my January or February scrapbooking classes or kits are available for $20 plus postage. mail@stamphappy.co.nz
