Layered Watercolor Background with Peaceful Garden Christmas Card
Today’s share is a really pretty Christmas card, complete with an easy layered watercolor background technique. For this sample, I’ve used the elegant Peaceful Garden Suite. While there is a technique involved, it’s still a fairly quick card to put together for your Christmas card stash.

I made this version with Cloud Cover, which is just such a great color! I used the Cloud Cover Two Toned cardstock to get the tone variation in the layers, which is something I just love to do for a bit of something, while still keeping it subtle.
For the bottom layer, I used the Peaceful Greenery embossing folder. I love the folder, and also this is a nice way to use it without using it as a frame. Using just an edge is also very pretty.

For the background, I did a quick watercolor wash with Cloud Cover. Let dry or use a heat tool. Add a partial second layer for more color variation. Let dry or use a heat tool.
Next, create a simple mask with post its or copy paper to cover the edges of the cardstock. As a final layer, stamp the words of your choice in Cloud Cover over the watercolored portion only.

I also made a Fresh Freesia version for something a little more non-traditional.
A great thing about the Peaceful Garden Suite is while it’s wonderful for Christmas, it’s also very suitable for sympathy or wedding projects. This is one you can use successfully all year round!
Bonus: My 12 Weeks of Christmas free email series is starting very soon, and all 12 project feature this suite! Follow along exactly, or adapt the projects to something you might prefer.

Check out the Peaceful Garden Suite! I think you’ll love it. Items can also be purchase separately.
