This is my submission for my own challenge in February. I loved it! Okay, I had to shuffle the pictures a little because I could not fit them exactly to the design, but that's okay. A little creative license is encouraged!
I have used here the Crew Kids Girl Simply Scrappin Kit and still have enough left over to make at least ten more pages. I'm really impressed how economical scrapbooking kits can be!
The tricky bit on this one is the mitred corners. I wanted those stripes to be all facing "in", so had to figure out how to neatly do the corners. I think it worked out quite well! I used the scallop edge punch to create the added interest inside the frame and just popped on a tiny flower to cover where the scallops didn't perfectly meet. I was not about to start over at that stage . . . .
The layout inspriation then just calls for two areas of embellishments, which I made up largely of scraps, the sticker strips from the kit, and just some odds and ends I had in my drawer. I love how the glittered heart looks! I used a chipboard heart and then covered it with Stampin' Up!'s chunky glitter in pink.
The Title and the big pink heart are both stamps from the A Happy Heart set, one that I use lots and hope it stays around past March! I would love to use this one for much more than Valentine's. Email me to order your own set!
I have also used rub-ons on this page. I took some close-ups so you could see the detail. I prefer to add lots of detail to my pages, while keeping it relatively subtle so as to not take away from the photos and faces. Let me know what you think!
Submit your work to the monthly challenge! I love to see what others make – cards and off the page welcome too!
