How to Make a Card WITH a Magnetic Bookmark | Hobby Haven Papers
This month the All Star Design Team is featuring the Hobby Haven Suite – a truly fun one with five different featured themes: reading, spa, potted plants, baking, and sewing. I’ve made a project from each of those themes, and today’s share showcases the reading papers.
What better than a card that also features a removable, magnetic bookmark? This mades a wonderful card to gift along with a book or a gift card to a bookstore.

For the fun book images, I cut them right out of the Hobby Haven printed paper. There ARE two sheets of pre-printed die cuts included in this pack, but I particularly wanted these specific images. Plus, if you use the die cuts and the papers, you have just a ton of options for colors.

I wanted this version to be suitable to give to my husband, so I chose more neutral tones with Cloud Cover, Secret Sea, and Pecan Pie. I also did some light sanding around some edges for just that bit more interest. After all, they will see the bookmark many times over, so I wanted it to be appealing for him.

The middle strip is actually a removable bookmark that folds over the card, held on by a pair of flat magnets. It’s really quite a simple concept, but a great go-to project idea! I’ve got the video for you below, and if you want written instructions for this style of card, I have a PDF option for you here.

Because the little stacks of books have so many colors in them, it’s easy to switch up the background colors for a totally different effect, too.

And last, I tried one with the more teal colors, which also worked well. I’ve, of course, used the books for these magnetic bookmark cards, but you can also make them using the other cute images in the Hobby Haven paper pack for a different effect.
One of the best things about making your own gifts is that you can personalise them specifically for the person in mind. They love that, too. In a world of digital communication, something that took your time and thought is so very meaningful.
