One of my favorite things to do when crafting is take a great simple idea, and then step it up. It’s fun to keep the concept the same, but add layers and details. Plus, I really LOVE the Trucking Along bundle. Which version do you like best?

This is the clean and simple version, inspired directly from the Stampin’ Up! samples in the online store (see them here). What struck me first was how the paper was used to create the “ribbon” feature; clever!
I think in their version, the truck was flat, but using the punch is so quick and easy . . . I can’t see why one wouldn’t punch it out to add a little more dimension.

For my stepped up version, I swapped the truck and the words. I prefer the truck to be more grounded, but that’s just personal preference. I also added a few more layers, and used the Stylish Shapes dies to cut out the square for a bit of stitching around the edge.
There is a new glitter paper pack coming in November, and I’ve used the Peacock Glitter paper for the “ribbon” in this version. I love it! I also added a tree from the Zany Zoo die set to the back of the truck.
I also think it looks nice to move outside the square a little, rather than keeping everything contained. Again, just personal preference, but I think it does make it a little more interesting.

And for my final, most stepped up version, I embossed the background with the Stripes Embossing Folder, then sanded it for more texture. I used real ribbon for the background, fraying the ends, as well as adding the new Black and Vanilla Check ribbon for contrast. Love that splash of black.
I put the label up on a tag, and added a little trailer full of Distressed Gold stars to the back of the truck.
Although this had more detail, overall, it’s still a pretty quick card to make.
If you don’t have it yet, consider getting the Trucking Along bundle before Christmas or the next birthday for a very fun, and personalised, card!
