Today’s share is a little tardy due to the busy-ness and excitement around my daughter’s wedding! I made this card both for a Facebook Live (replay below) and for a Colour Inkspiration challenge. I just love participating in a challenge; it’s really a great way to grow and learn as a paper crafter.
I wanted to try the Floating Strip technique, a super easy and fun idea for a unique background:

The Floating Strip technique is a great one for using those strips and scraps we all have left behind when doing other projects. They don’t even have to be the same width! In the video below, I’ll show you several examples using different shapes, too.

The Iconic Dies are “stand alone” dies (they don’t bundle with any stamp set), and I loved this fern die. It’s really iconic (funny that) for New Zealand. I will definitely be making more projects with the fern!
After the Floating Strip background is made, a detailed die over the top looks very nice. Choose any image that works with the theme of your card.

Please enjoy the video below to see this fun technique in action!

Thanks so much for stopping by my stamping studio today! ~ Jacque Williams
I’m loving that idea, definitely will make similar. Nothing wrong with the bird card, it’s beautiful! And so my ‘wish list’ gets longer … 😆
I look forward to my hug on Saturday! xx
Thanks for sharing this technique. Your cards are all very inspiring.
Thank you so much, Gayle!
