Today’s share is a fun technique idea with embossing folders. For those who like to use simple layers or even make one layered cards, this technique is a great way to add interest without an additional layer.
I’ve used the Nature’s Prints for this sample. Notice how the embossing is all around the words, but leaves a nice flat space in the middle for the words?
This is easy to do by making a simple shim (or thick layer) of cardboard.
I used the Cane Weave embossing folder, a personal favorite. I think it goes really well with floral images.
I cut out a frame using the thick brown backing of our specialty Designer Series Papers (don’t throw it away!), and used that inside the embossing folder along with the cardstock. See a quick demonstration in the video below.

Love the use of embossing folders but over time when I look back have failed to achieve the most from them so this video has certainly given me inspiration to try more ways to use them.
Thank you!
