Most people find masculine layouts a bit harder to design, so I hope today’s scrapbooking layout with the Take to the Sky Suite is inspiring! I felt the muted color scheme and them images were quite suitable for a layout of a more masculine nature.
I designed this first page as part of my Artisan assignment for June. Inspired by the “paneling” texture stamp in the Adventurous Sky stamp set, I created a panelled-effect background with the Stylish Shapes dies. This gave me a neutral, but still interesting, backdrop for the photos.
The Take to the Sky paper pack includes a “cut sheet” (not really sure what they are officially called), or a sheet with various sections of different prints and tags to cut out. I found this extremely helpful on a memory keeping layout, plus it gave me lots more prints from which to choose.
And of course I included those great airplane dies in the matching colors to accent our theme and support the photos.
The second page is the reverse of the first page. It was a bit of a brain bender for many of the people who came to my recent scrapbooking classes, but we all got there in the end. I think they enjoyed learning a new way to use their papers and off-cuts.
I like to use tiny scraps to add a bit of color to coordinate. And the Industrial Trinkets are just right to “nail down” the layers for a real masculine look.
