Today’s share was inspired by a swap from team member, Glenys Logue, at a recent Shoebox Swap team event I hosted. It’s always so fun to not only share the afternoon together, but to learn from each other. I loved Gleny’s fun fold idea, and played around with it using the Thoughtful Wishes stamp and die set.
The Thoughtful Journey papers were a good choice for this fun fold. I like the continuous pattern, while still keeping it interesting with a little break in the pattern.
The large die from the Thoughtful Wishes die set adds a beautiful finish to the front, giving some “solid” color against the more watercolor – look background.
But wait – there’s more! The middle section actually opens up like a little mini card on the front. It’s quite simple (and clever).
The very basic measurements are:
- Cut two panels out of cardstock the same size. You can literally use any size.
- Score one of the panels in half, then score one of the sections in half again.
- Fold mountain/valley and adhere to the first, unscored panel to create the mechanism.
I had fun making a few versions of this particular card, this one being my favorite. I just love the Pretty Peacock with Wild Wheat color combination! It’s very striking.
For this version, I cut the bough across the front out of the Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper. Besides the beautiful prints, they also have more “solid” watercolored prints on the other side. These are great for die cutting!
