Moviemonday

This is a fantastic little template a lovely lady named Carrie showed to us at last year's Stampinupminialbumafttea Stampin' Up! training convention in Sydney.  I have used this quite a bit, and am pleased to hear that many of you have been as well!

One sweet customer, Lisa, told me that she made some of these up and let her daughter do all the embellishing, which is a great idea!  What young girls (we're all young, aren't we?) wouldn't enjoy that?  I'm thinking about the tween birthday party my eldest wants to have next month . . .

The first sample is one that many of you have made with me, using the Afternoon Tea Designer Series Papers and the Live Your Dreams stamp set (which is on the Bushfire Appeal list).

The second sample uses the Le Jardin papers and the Carte Postale stamp set (both on the retired list) and the third one – you'll have to watch the movie!

Stampinupminialbum The basics of how this goes together is in the movie (mum's tv show, as it's called at my house) because it's rather tricky to explain in print, but easy to explain with visuals.  The rest, the embellishing, is up to you!  Enjoy!

Another favourite Hostess Set! Oh, So Lovely has been well used at my house becuase it's the only "tall" flower in the book!  And I enjoy the look of the distressed stamp (the Creamy Caramel texture behind the flower), both with this set and mixed in with other Stampinuptall-box sets, too.  This particular stamp set will be deleted as of March 31st.

This is an invaluable template because this box uses only one measurement and no template!  You only need one sheet of A4 card to make this size, but of course, it can be made smaller and bigger, shorter and taller to suit your needs.

I teach a fun class I call "No Template Bags and Boxes".  Book yours today and receive your FREE Oh, So Lovely Stamp set!

Stamp sets:  En Francais Background stamp, Oh, So Lovely, Occasional Greetings

Colours: Almost Amethyst, Creamy Caramel, Certainly Celery, Basic Black, various markers for colouring image

Other:  Hodge Podge Clip for closure, ribbon, Dazzling Diamons glitter

This set has been a favourite with my hostesses – just about five weeks left and it will be deleted!

Stampinuptimewellspent I don't use a lot of blue in my work naturally; so this one was a little stretch for me.  The yellow card is Barely Banana, but the yellow ink is Summer Sun.  Barely Banana and Summer Sun are the same yellow, just a shade and a tint of each other.

Using lights and darks of the same colour is an effective way to get some visual depth without creating extra contrast or "busy-ness" to a project.  To further that idea, I used vellum for one of my layers because it didn't add any colour.

The clips in the Hodge Podge kits are another easy way to add just a bit of ribbon.  It adds a lot of texture and colour without costing much, either, because you only use a few centimetres of ribbon.

To earn your free hostess set, consider booking a workshop with me!

Stampinuptimewellspent2 Stamps: Time Well Spent, Simply Said, Everyday Flexible Phrases

Colours: Ballet blue, Barely Banana, Summer Sun, Basic Black

Other:  Hodge Podge Clip, grosgrain ribbon, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, vellum, mat pack, sponge dauber

Bagsandboxes

I had a full-on weekend, three full days of non-stop going and going.  But I enjoyed it!  I really did – it's the wonderful ladies out there, the hugs, and the enthusiasm that makes this job so fun and rewarding.  It's YOU who keep me going!

So my Monday post is Tuesday this week because I was with some of my favourite people on my normal blogging day.

Stampinupbodaciousbox This is a box I made up for a magazine layout, inspired by two different projects made by my downline, Tracee Jones (Waihi) and Pauline McArdle (Napier).  I just love these colours together!

The flowers have been done using the Rock and Roll technique to acheive the hint of pink along the edges of the Barely Banana flowers.  I am happy to show you this one upon request.

Bodacious Bouquet has been a favourite of mine, and I am sad to see that it will be deleted as of March 31st.  This set is also on the Bushfire Appeal list (half of the cost of the set will be donated to the Bush Fire fund), so it's a great time Stampinupbodaciousbox2 to order this one  while you still can!

Stamp Set:  Bodacious Bouqet

Colours: Mellow Moss, Barely Banana, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose

Other:  5/8 vanilla grosgrain ribbon, rose red brads

Scrapbookingcorner

StampinupiloveyoupageStampinupiloveyoupage1 This is my submission for my own challenge in February.  I loved it!  Okay, I had to shuffle the pictures a little because I could not fit them exactly to the design, but that's okay.  A little creative license is encouraged!

Stampinupiloveyoupage2 I have used here the Crew Kids Girl Simply Scrappin Kit and still have enough left over to make at least ten more pages.  I'm really impressed how economical scrapbooking kits can be!

The tricky bit on this one is the mitred corners.  I wanted those stripes to be all facing "in", so had to figure out how to neatly do the corners.  I think it worked out quite well!  I used the scallop edge punch to create the added interest inside the frame and just popped on a tiny flower to cover where the scallops didn't perfectly meet.  I was not about to start over at that stage . . . .

The layout inspriation then just calls for two areas of embellishments, which I made up largely of scraps, the sticker strips from the kit, and just some odds and ends I had in my drawer.  I love how the glittered heart looks!  I used a chipboard heart and then covered it with Stampin' Up!'s chunky glitter in pink.

Stampinupiloveyoupage3 The Title and the big pink heart are both stamps from the A Happy Heart set, one that I use lots and hope it stays around past March!  I would love to use this one for much more than Valentine's.  Email me to order your own set!

I have also used rub-ons on this page.  I took some close-ups so you could see the detail.  I prefer to add lots of detail to my pages, while keeping it relatively subtle so as to not take away from the photos and faces.  Let me know what you think!

Submit your work to the monthly challenge!  I love to see what others make – cards and off the page welcome too!

I love to see what my customers are creating – please send me pictures of your projects!  Speaking of inspiration from Monday's post, I often get inspiration from others' work!

This is a super quick and easy project shown to me by my dear friend and fellow demonstrator, Anabel Welch.

Stampinuprecipegift I wanted to give a young girl a gift for watching after my children and untangling the huge WAD of necklaces, earrings, and bracelets I had.  She enjoys baking, so I whipped up a wrapper for this cookbook for her using one sheet of the Dashing Designer Series Paper combined with the A Happy Heart Stamp set.

And this stamp set is fantastic – I'll use this one well past Valentine's Day.  In fact, I am using it on a page for later in the week  . . .

These are colours I would have never put together on my own, but took the inspiration from the front of the book.  I Stampinuprecipegift2 like the combination!  It's my opinion that you can find inspiration nearly anywhere.  My favourite place to look is at the fabric store or at people's clothing.  Where are your favourite place to find your inspiration?  Leave your ideas in the comments, please; I'll be interested to hear what inspires you!

Peekaboo cards are a fun twist on the traditional card and hold a sweet inside!  This is a take on the lovely card AnneMarie designed a few weeks ago.

Stampinuppeekaboo Once you know where to score, this one goes together very quickly.  The centre window is made using the circle scallop punch, and then the remaining image is used to layer on the front.

The focal image is done using In the Stars stamp set and the two sizes of star punches.  I added just a bit of glitter, even though I was going for masculine!  I did run this by my husband, and he gave his approval.

Colours Used: chocolate chip, Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi

Stampinuppeekaboo2 Stamps Used: In the Stars, Rough Texture jumbo wheel

Other: Scallop circle punch, both star punches, Scallop Edge Punch, silver brad, Dazzling Diamonds glitter

The chocolate heart inside is from the Chocolate Boutique and come in a myriad of colours.
