{Fresh Cuts Stampin’ Up! Swap}

Tricksofthetrade

I had one hour and forty-five minutes to make 15 plus swaps.  My underpaid helpers, I mean, my children, pitched in and we got these done for our training and swap meeting!

Stampinupaprilswap The Fresh Cuts Cards are just beautiful – they can be dressed up quite a bit or left simple as this one is.  The Fresh Cut stamp set (I know, confusing, because they both have the same name!) is designed to go very well with these die cut cards, and a bargain to boot.

However, my set had been overnighted on loan, which forced me to get a little more creative!  I've done emboss resist for the background (or the image that is showing through the petal cut outs) and sponged on Riding Hood Red and Pretty in Pink.

Supplies Used:

Stamps:  En Francais Background stamp (39.95), Eastern Blooms (46.95), Fresh Cuts (45.95)

Colours: Old Olive, Riding Hood Red, Pretty in Pink

Other:  Versamark, Clear Embossing Powder, sponges, Five Petal Flower Punch, Earth Elements Brads, Fresh Cut Card, Old Olive Ribbon

Isn't this beautiful?

Stampinupeasternbloomsbox This is a gift box that a Kim Carter, a dear friend, made and gave to me as a lovely surprise.

It reminded me again of why we do what we do.  Yes, as creative people, we are so satisfied with just creating and making beautiful things.  But it also feels so wonderful to be the recipient of someone's time & talent.  And that makes everyone feel happy.  Thank you, Kim, for giving me that very special gift of your time and kind thoughts.Stampinupeasternbloomscard

The card is cool, isn't it?  She's done a neat fold along the bottom so it stands up by itself.

Kim also knows I live between my house and the gym, so she's gifted me some little toiletries – perfect for the gym bag!

This is a great example of how you can take some items that might otherwise be ordinary, like a box or a tin, and really change the entire thing to be a WOW!  All you need is a bit of colour and a dash of courage to begin.

Supplies Used:

Stamps:  Eastern Blooms (46.95), Yummy ($20)

Colours:  Rose Red, So Saffron, Old Olive

Other:  Old Olive Ribbon, Pretties Kit

Stampinupeasternbloomspage3 I found these colours very easy to work with!  Honestly, anything with Chocolate Chip comes together quickly, though.  And I am lovin’ the new In Colours!

Keeping with the Eastern Blooms theme for the week, that was the main stamp set used here.  I used every single stamp in the box!

There are four different ways of using stamps on scrapbook pages here:

1.  Create your own background image.  How often do we need a specific something or other to go with our project and can’t find just the thing?  Here’s a very easy way to just make your own!

Stampinupeasternbloomspage2 2.  Create an embellishment strip with embossing.  I embossed those Chocolate Chip vines onto Whisper White card.  I tried it first on Baja Breeze, but it was just too “heavy” looking.  So another technique is to emboss onto Whisper white and then just sponge on ink, giving a much softer, textured finish.  I’ve left some “whiteness” here, too, to add to the effect.

3. Create your title and embellish a tag.  Just a little bit of the Kiwi Kiss was all that was needed here.  The small tag on the left hand side was also stamped.Stampinupeasternbloomspage

4. Cut out your image and add a 3D embellishment.  The arrangement of flowers in the corner add that final visual texture that changed the page from same old same old to “finished”.

I am taking bookings now for May for Stamping Classes – Layouts, cards, and off the page projects available.

Supplies used:

Stamps: Eastern Blooms, Happy Everything, Basic Phrases

Colours:  Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip

Other: Word Window Punch, White Taffeta Ribbon, brown thread, Pretties Kit

Stampinupeasternblooms This week I'd like to focus in on the stamp set Eastern Blooms.  Let's start with this sample, sent to me by the Stampin' Up country manager, Emma.  I think she made it, but not certain.  She may be too busy with desk stuff to do the fun stuff!

This card features three of the new colours, Baja Breeze, Tangerine Tango, and Kiwi Kiss.  Do you love them?  I wasn't so sure about that Kiwi Kiss at first, but I think it will be a well-used colour after all!  I think it will go on my favourites list this year.

So Emma has used the Eastern Blooms set here as both a background and a focal image with a Rhinestone brad.  Nice!

Supplies:

Stamps:  Eastern Blooms (46.95), Really Retro (28.95)

Colours: Baja Breeze, Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss

Other:  Kiwi Kiss Ribbon, linen thread, circle punch, rhinestone brad, mat pack

Stampinupeastercard Easter is one of my favourite times of the year.  And, being raised in the Northern Hemisphere, this cooler time of year feels a bit more festive to me anyway, adding to the special time that Easter already is.

This card idea is taken from brandycox; thank you for sharing your creative ideas.  This industry has a lot of give and take, which I really appreciate especially for those times when one hits a "creative block"!

I realize that the papers here and two of the colours are now retired.  However, you can still use the idea with new papers and/or I have a few bits and pieces left here you can order if you want exactly what is shown here.

IMG_6013_edited-1 The little chicky and both sentiments are from the stamp set A Good Egg.  I coloured in chick straight with markers and then added a load of glitter.  He looks awesome!

The edge is done with the Scallop Edge Punch for a "cracked egg" look.  Just a fun card today!

Suppplies used:

Stamp sets:  A Good Egg

Colours:  Ruby Red, River Rock, Groovy Guava

Other:  Ginger Blossom Designer Series Paper, Designer Label Punch, Small Oval punch, Scallop Edge punch, Earth Elements brads, River Rock Ribbon

As Victoria put it.Stampinupbunnies

How cute are these?  These have been floating around the net for a while now; I have no idea who to credit for the original idea – but darn quick and easy!

Stampinupbunnies3 These little bunnies have a peppermint patty inside for a fun presentation of a small treat for Easter.  A chocolate sandwich.  It doesn't get better than that!

These are made nearly entirely with Stampin' Up! punches, but you can also use the Pick a Petal set to make the ears for a matching print.  The faces are just drawn on with Stampin' Up Markers.  See, my drawing is terrible.  This is why I stamp.

I am sure there are lollies of some type that will work for this project in New Zealand.  I do have a couple bags of the peppermint patties left.  Sooo, because I cannot eat them, I will offer them up to anyone placing an order for the Pick A Petal stamp set from now until Easter or Stampinupbunnies1 until supplies last.

Supplies Used:

Stamps:  None or Pick a Petal

Colours Used:  Various – we stuck to Soft Subtles – a great way to use up bits and pieces

Other: Scallop circle punch, 1 3/8 and 1 1/4 inch punches, large and small oval punches

Cllick here to place your order.

Wonderful news for Stampin' Up! demonstrators and customers today!

Transition to Die-Cut Stamp Sets with the New Catalogue
31 March 2009

We are excited to announce that with the release of the 2009-2010 Idea Book & Catalogue on 1 April, we will be transitioning to all die-cut stamp sets! We know that both demonstrators and customers have enjoyed the ease of mounting these types of sets, and we’re thrilled to be able to offer these sets to you in more than just the mini catalogues.

Please be aware that we’ve set up a process to transition from square-cut to die-cut with those sets that we are carrying over from the 2008-2009 Idea Book & Catalogue to the new 2009-2010 Idea Book & Catalogue. We will continue to fill orders with the carryover square-cut sets until our inventory runs out.

What about the Costs for the New Die-Cut Sets?

Fortunately, with this transition to all die-cut sets, you will not see an increase in price for die-cut sets in the catalogue. So the price you pay for the square-cut sets is the same price you will pay for the die-cut sets.
