Sweetsensations

Rivetgreatgiftidea

I took this idea from Angie Juda, a demo from the United States.  I can see where she's from, but from her accent, I'd guess Texas?  You can see her project here.  And this is my adaptation on it:

Stampinupchocolatevalentine This is a super easy project, made easy by the slit punch.  This is such a useful punch for creating little closures!

The images are from both Big On Spring and from Love Owl-ways, both sets from the Summer Mini Catalogue.  The scallop is done with the new scallop edge punch.

I love the Love Owl-ways set for Valentines because it includes words suitable for friends.  I suggest we all Stampinupvalentinechocolate make a valentine and remember our girlfriends!  My girls and I are going to make up Valentine treats and take them to some of the  the single ladies at church.

Of course you can change the dimensions and the treat inside to suit you!  please email me for the dimensions on this to fit the Whittaker's chocolates.

Colours Used:  Certainly Celery, Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, Purely Pomegranate, Basic Black, Whisper White

Stamp sets used:  Big on Spring or Love Owl-ways

Other:  Slit punch, Scallop Edge Punch, 5/8 grosgrain ribbon, blender pens, Dazzling Diamonds glitter

Tricksofthetrade

Spinner cards are so quick and easy!  This was one of the several fabulous projects we did at our Extravaganza in Auckland on Saturday.

Stampinuppolkadotspinner The photograph does not do this one justice because it's a project you need to pick up and play with!  The flower image spins rapidly from side to side, adding a fun, WOW element to your card.

The stamp set used here is the Polka Dot Punches set, one of the four FREE sets you can earn during Sale-A-Bration.  I love how easily this is punched out with the five petal flower punch!  The cute sentiment is from the Yummy set, another Freebie during February!

The slot is made using the Word Window Punch. Yes, you can make the punch images bigger!  Now that might get the wheels Judy turning . . .

There are more Extravaganza's scheduled in February; please check my calendar for one near you!

Colours used: Pretty in Pink, Close to Cocoa, Purely Pomegranate, Whisper White

Stamp sets used: Polka Dot Punches, Yummy

Other:  Berry Bliss paper, Word Window Punch, Five Petal Flower Punch, Scallop Punch, Scallop Edge Punch, Soft Subtles Buttons, Linen Thread

Aren't these cute?!  I just adore this set (A Happy Heart)- so many options.  I've seen lots done with the heart in the set, but I am very partial to the tic-tac-toe board, as seen here and in previous posts.  And what an adorable background paper it would make!  This set is available until the end of March.

Stampinupprimaryvalentine This card uses no more cardstock than a traditionally folded card, but has great impact.  I designed these up to be used for a Daddy-Daughter Valentine's Party, as you can see by the invitation that was adhered to the tag.

Colours Used:  Soft Sky, Pretty in Pink, Close to Cocoa, Whisper White

Stamp Sets:  A Happy Heart  49.95

Other:  Scallop Square Punch, 1/2 inch circle punch, grosgrain ribbon

Stampinup60cards Wow!  Can you believe you can make so many cards from one Simply Scrappin' Scrapbooking kit?!  I did include a few extra sheets of 12×12 to get sixty 4×4 cards – you can get 60 3×3 cards, though, out of a kit.  Some of the cards have added ribbon, buttons, and rub-ons, too.  The samples are done up using the Secret Garden Kit.

Stampinup60cards3 I very much enjoyed sitting and whipping these together!  It's a very economical way to create a supply of little notes for when you need a quick thank you or a card to go with a gift or a little get well in a hurry.

One great idea:  get one of the kits (confetti is a good one to try) and spend an evening with your children making up birthday cards for them to use through the year!  Not only does this provide an economic supply of birthday cards, but also a fun family night!  Order yours Stampinup60cards2 today for 43.95!

P.S.  Of course, these are still fantastic kits for pages!  LOL!  But even when you've done a page or two or three, you can still use the leftovers to make cards such as these . . . no waste!

the bottom samples are made using the Winter Bright Kit by my eldest daughter, Madeleine.  Karen was so kind as to share with her.  But I wanted to show what she did because it shows this kit does not have to be Christmas!  There are lots of cute options!Stampinupmerrybright

Moviemonday

Stampinuphedgehog2 I never before thought hedgehogs were cute.

In fact, I often wondered what the fascination was with all the hedgehog stamps so popular in other brands.

Then one day, while walking to the pool, we found a baby hedgehog on the pathway, orphaned and so tiny.  And what mother can leave a baby alone?

In the end, we had her for five days, and then she passed on, despite our best efforts to keep the baby alive.  There are a few kind ladies in Auckland who specialize in helping out hedgehogs, and Stampinuphedgehog neither of them charge a fee for their services.  So I made up a pack of these cards to send as a thank you to the ladies who drove over the try and save the baby.  It mean a lot to me and to my girls that people have such kind and generous spirits to help out the small creatures.

This card is quite straightforward, except for the scalloped frame.  Take two on the videos for a short visual tutorial!  To order your scallop edge punch, email me today!

Scrapbookingcorner

Today was an enjoyable day in my craft room, despite the constant bickering in the background . . .

The colour challenge today was r012009-colors[1]eally a challenge!!  I don't prefer to use such stark colours in my pages, but I applied a colour principle here- there is a certain technique to use when the colours are bright or you don't really like them together . . can you guess what it is?  Email me with your ideas and I will give a pack of dimensionals to the first person who can read my mind!  The answer and any other Stampinupscrapbookpage39 good suggestions posted next week.

I've also combined this challenge with a sketch challenge found on http://www.pagemaps.com/ - a fun resource for layout inspiration!

The stamps used here are Wild About You, a favourite of almost everybody.  It's such a cute set for children and mixes nicely with flowers, too.  Most of the flowers are punched using just the one punch, Spring Bouquet.  One can get a lot of looks with that one purchase!  And can you see the scallop edge used here?  I did go all the way across, but in the end, only a bit peeped out.

I have also used a cuttlebug folder on the textured Real Red card (what a cool look with two textures!), miscellaneous ribbon, and buttons and brads to match.  I have also added beads to the flowers, as you can see in the close up.  Beads can be Stampinupscrapbookpage2 adhered using Stampin up's Crystal Effects- just give it plenty of time to dry.

The fonts are done with the old sizzlits.  I know, I know, I must be archaic!!  They are script font and the Monkey Business font.  They may be old-fashioned, but they still work great and I am a sucker for cool fonts.

Only when I was nearly finished did it occur to me that these colours would make the perfect ladybug layout . . .OH, well, next time someone remind me!  I have such a thing for ladybugs; who Stampinupscrapbookpage4 knows why it didn't cross my mind earlier.

I have spent the Christmas holiday sorting through photos (throwing out hundreds of old boyfriends – don't need to go there), so now I am ready to roll this year with lots of pages!

Rivetmaleapproved Isn't this just adorable?  My challenge was to find a masculine Valentine's card that was also quick and easy – and this was just the thing.

Stampinupahappyheart The Real Red & Chocolate Chip combination is always a winner for the male set.  And this stamp set in the Summer Mini is a set with so many possibilities – a real value for money.  The centre heart here is punched out with the 1/2 inch circle punch and the two hearts and quickly cut out with the paper snips.

The main image is stamped on one of the papers from the Notebook Designer Series Papers.  The designs on these ones are rather subdued, making them perfect for stamping while adding that little bit of extra visual interest.

This design can also be done in different colours, of course, and done up quickly for little notes for co-workers or school friends.

To book into my Valentine's Class on January 28th or to order your A Happy Heart stamp set, please email me today!

The original artist can be seen here.  Many thanks for all the talented ladies who continually provide inspiration!

Rivetbudgetwise I really do love this card layout.  I am partial to square cards, though.  Scroll down to see the original version (at least "my" original!) using Ginger Blossom.  Which one do you prefer?  And if you keep on scrolling, you will find a neat scrapbooking layout using these papers and these stamps in a different way.  Amazing how one can create such different looks even when using the same supplies!

Stampinupbalibreeze It's hard to see in the photos, but both projects have a special embossing powder – I like it call it irridescent ice.  Most of you own white embossing powder and most of you have our delicious clear glitter, Dazzling Diamonds.  But did you know that you can mix the two to create a sparkling embossed image?  So now you can get three looks with two very useful products.  The same recipe can be applied to any of our embossing powders.

Embossing powders are available in white, gold, silver, clear, and black for 10.95  (14g pot) and the Dazzling Diamonds glitter is 10.25 for a 14 g pot.  Email me today to order!
