My last post I shared A Dragonfly Dreams card, and we are on a roll! I’d love to share this fun project using Dragonfly Dreams, featuring an artsy watercolored background. I’ve used the Watercolor Pencils here to create this look:
Each of these turns out as a little work of art. Some are more “runny” and others stay more in a rectangular shape. All look great – it’s just a matter of personal preference!
On this version, I used Old Olive, Bermuda Bay, Pacific Point, and Daffodil Delight. Simply scribble the pencils onto the cardstock, and use a Stampin’ Spritzer or an Aquapainter (or both) to blend the colours and let them run.
You can quickly contain the colours by blotting them up with a tissue or heating them with the Heat Tool to stop the blending.
I wanted to add a bit more colour as I was working on this one, so while the paper and pencils were still wet, I coloured more on with a dry Watercolor Pencil. Here is where I learned to wet the pencil first! Those scratch marks are from the dry pencil, but I also liked that effect. Like I said, they all come out quite differently and each with their own appeal.
This version uses the warmer colours of Rich Razzleberry, Calypso Coral, Pumpkin Pie, and Daffodil Delight.
We made this project at my garage sale a few weeks ago, and it was fun to see everyone’s artist come out. Some were more reserved and some really got in there! And all the colour combinations were beautiful.
New this year! KITS!
Every month , I will offer a birthday card kit. This project is perfect because each one turns out differently with so many possibilities!
You have the option of ordering four kits for $12 which will include all consumables (cardstock, twine, glimmer paper) pre-cut and ready to go. You may also add-on the Dragonfly Bundle and other products. Of course, you can always order whatever products you need and just add the kits on top!
Instructions included.
