I often hear comments in my classes about struggles with heat embossing, so I have some tips to share with you today so you can heat emboss with confidence and success. Heat embossing allows you to create vivid images, plus gives you the option to stamp on dark cardstock. In addition, heat embossing opens up the possibilities with a lot of techniques.
For this sample, I’ve used gold embossing powder with the beautiful Sketched Butterflies stamp set. The image itself already is somewhat of a vintage look, and the gold really adds to the effect. I’ve always liked gold embossing on Crumb Cake cardstock for an elegant effect.
I watercolored the butterfly with Fresh Freesia and Blackberry Bliss, a color I seem to reach for quite a bit recently. When watered down for painting, it has a Rich Razzleberry look, which is a color I miss!!
I also embossed the words in gold, and it’s really quite striking on the dark Blackberry Bliss cardstock.
