Home Decor – DIY Gumball Machine

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Hi, there!  I’ve been MIA this last week as my cousin is here visiting from the USA and it’s been lovely to catch up and share some funny memories.    I did have a class on Monday and we tried something a little different – home decor!

This fun idea came from Juliette Riddell, one of my fabulous team members, who shared this idea at our recent Team Stamp Camp.  Can you work out how this is done?

We had a lot of fun – I put out scraps of card and everyone’s turned out differently:

EAch of us used the Pansy Punch for the flowers and the Flower Frenzy Die for the leaves.  Then just buttons and brads for the centures.

Have you worked it out?

It’s fun to do something off the page here and there!  Use these for a seasonal theme or neutral to fit any decor or specific to a particular room.  Fun!

Join me for a class – I’ll be doing these at some this month!

Choose Happiness Clean Vintage Style

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Reaching for an old favorite, Choose Happiness is a set that has a variety of lovely images great for layering.    And my personal favorite style is a “clean vintage” sort with a few vintage elements with just a little bit of grunge combined with white space.

The Burlap ribbon can be cut with the Scallop Trim Thinlits Die! and that’s a fun look.  You could fray it up a bit, too.

I separate the thick Crisp Cataloupe twine for just a few strands to go through the button.  And the good news is this twine is on the Weekly Deals this week!

I sent out my March newsletter today – did you receive your copy?

Best Day Ever Pretty Pastels Scrapbooking Layout

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

This is a quick to put together layout great for showcasing pretty papers!  Here I’ve used the coordinating SaleABration Products (Best Day Ever stamp set with the Best Year Ever Designer Series Papers and Accessory Pack) to create a “no thinking” project!

Stampn up best year ever easy layout scrapbooking

Coordinating paper packs make it easy to match up prints.  I’ve used five different prints on the above layout!

Now just because a stamp image is “all in one” doesn’t mean you can’t separate them. The title above is all one stamp. I just stamped the cardstock and cut the words apart.

Strategically cut strips of paper to capture a perfect row of a print.  The flower is made with the new Flower Medallion punch, which layers up so nicely with the Pansy Punch.

Any of the above printed papers, the stamp set, or the ribbon & buttons are FREE with any order of $110 – no limit!

Butterfly Basics Framed Art

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Butterfly Basics was the first collection I ordered last month in preparation for the new Occasions Catalogue – love the clean vintage look!  Plus the variety of images in this set make it very versatile.

The last few weeks Rob and I have totally made over three rooms in our house – from paint to clean to different furniture to a new colour palette.  One of the rooms is my youngest daughter, Sofie’s, bedroom.  It was more than worse for wear . . she has lived in there since she was three and it had not been repainted or gutted since then.  Plus, she’s almost 13 and it was time for a more grown-up look.

She was very specific in her colour choices, which makes finding wall art or decor a bit tricky.  The beauty of creating YOUR OWN art is you can have it fit exactly your colour scheme!

An added bonus is you can make these sorts of things using very few consumable supplies – great for those decorating on a small budget.

You could even add a family name or a child’s name here.  Great for a baby shower gift or a very special wedding gift, too!

What do you think?   Anybody would love a one-of-a-kind work of art in their room, especially if they got to help create it or if it was made just for them.  Give it a try!  Supply list below and I would love to answer any questions!

From the Garden Notecard

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Happy summer!  I've been having a bit of fun playing with all the great new products in the Occasions Catalogue AND the SaleABration catalogue and today I share one of my first efforts, using the From the Garden bundle:

I've paired this up with the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper and the Best Year Ever Accessory pack (both SaleABration freebies!) for a soft, spring look.

The row of burlap along the side?   I cut the burlap ribbon in half and just frayed it a bit . . .

I had a good play and made up different colour combinations as I went along.  Can't wait to use these garden picks with the new Berry Basket die!

Project Life Family Album – Playground 6×8 style Christmas Gifts

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Recently, we had our step-son choose to live with his mother in Australia, so we had a greater family photo shoot before his departure.     This was the perfect opportunity to create an entire "mini" album using the new 6×8 Project Life albums

And the album contains 24 pages, but here are a few:

The Playground set provides 100 double sided, unique cards to fill any gaps and add the journalling.

Photos can also be split across two smaller pockets.

Many of the cards didn't need any further embellishing.  Here, I just added a simple heart for the man I totally adore.

Project Life is designed to be quick and an easy, clean way to preserve many photos in a short period of time. Of course, you can embellish to your heart's content, but I chose here to leave the cards relatively simple.

And on that note — I made one of these for each of my direct reports (first level downline) in my Stampin' Up! family.

Of course I did not insert my own family photos, but  did include the embellished cards in each album.

Each card & embellishment pack was fun to work with!   What I loved is that I didn't need much more out on the table than the embellishment pack for each series – how simple is that?!

The girls loved picking out their albums and I made them all promise to actually use them!  I hope to see pics up on their blogs.  🙂

Four Feathers CASE

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

I'm still here, but have been heads down, bum up with Christmas preparations.  Always fun and rewarding!  The season feels so much more festive to me when I have put a bit of service and time into the preparations.

I photographed a lovely sample by Kristine McNickle at one of our team events, changed it a bit, and did it up in three colours.   This is one of the many fun projects we did at the Year of Cards class last weekend.

Stampin up four feathers silver blackberry bliss

The above one is similar to the original, done in Silver ink, Basic Grey, and Smokey Slate.

The smaller feather in the background is made by sponging through a mask.  Create the mask using the coordinating feather framelits and scrap cardstock.

Stampin up four feathers crisp cantaloup

Then I started to have a play and changed it up a bit , using Crisp Cantaloupe instead.  This one is my favorite.

And this last one is done using gold and Blackberry Bliss for a more sophisticated look.

It was fun to have a play with some different colour combinations.  When you have a good design, change it up for a nice selection of cards for your stash!
