011309-color[1] My assignment today was to create a baby card using some of our new products, and I decided to combine it with the colour challenge for a non-traditional finish.

The products used here are the Nursery Letters jumbo wheel and the two sizes of star punches.  I based the card on Jan Tink's neat design, although I removed a few elements to make this project a bit more manageable for a class.

Stampinupbaby The wheeling is done on Pretty in Pink for a more subdued look.  I really do like the star images, both the punches and the stamps.  I think I will make a star chain on my next layout .  . stay tuned because now I've committed myself!

I really could not decide between the two ribbons – in fact I dithered over this entire project for way too long . . . so I just decided to post both and call them girl and boy.  Which do you prefer?  (the Stampinupbabygirl ribbons, not girls vs boys, please  🙂

This project is a take-off of a gorgeous Christmas card I cased off the net two years ago, Stampinupeasternblooms which just goes to show that you can take any project, change the colours, change the images, rotate the layout and come up with something new!

I just love how this turned out – the rich colours here really appeal to me.  The stamp set here is Eastern Blooms, which is fast becoming my "go to" stamp set and the papers are Ginger Blossom, both of which can be ordered  through me until March 31st.

This card features the embossing technique and also the Whisper White stamp pad.  You can see the difference pretty easily – the focal image is embossed and the corner image is stamped without embossing.  And the hodgepodge hardware here in Antique Copper adds a nice colour depth for a finish.  (Plus, use them up so you can make tin like the one below!)

Do you recognize from where I acquired this tin? Stampinupbalibreezetin This is the tin the Hodge Podge Haredware comes in! So even when you've used up all the goodies, you've still got another project out of the purchase! I've covered the tin using the Bali Breeze papers from the Summer Mini Catalogue and the stamp images are from Rivetbudgetwise the Sale-A-Bration set, Yummy. I am looking forward to making some really cool jars and recipe projects with this set! And I think I have a few photos of babies with avacado or some such smeared all over their bodies that would suit this stamps for a nice layout . . . just a few. The

Stampinupbalibreezetin2 flowers on here were a special effort by me today. All the flowers are from the Pretties Kit – see the video below on how I coloured them up! Leave me a comment and let me know what you think. Besides that I need to close the dishwasher next time . .

This is an idea that I've been playing with in my head for a long time, and when I saw Embrace Life, I had to try it out!  It all started with my dear friend, Lissa, brought over a finished wall quilt that she had made for a wedding gift.  She handed me a stamp from Wonderful Words II and aske ME to stamp it on the quilt!  We were both too scared to do it, but it did plant in my head the very cool idea of stamping on fabric.  (She stamped it in the end and it worked beautifully).

As many of you know,Stampinupskirtfamily my other passion (gee, how many do I have?) is sewing.  I wasnted to make a skirt and decided to use a solid white and embellish with stamps!  Now this is really opening up some possibilities here . . . !!  Watch out – I think I can feel some fantastic handbags coming on!  And oh my, what about those quilt options?!

My dad was taking some family photos of us, and this is not a great one of either us nor the skirt, but the best one of the skirt "in action".  I took a close up so you could more detail.

Rivetbudgetwise You need to use a permanent or fabric-specific ink for this.  For my skirt, I have used the Jet Black Staz-On and heat set it with a dry iron.  Quilters and Dressmakers, I'd love to see how you  Stampinupskirt incorporate stamps into your projects!

Rivetmaleapproved This is just a few cute & fast little card that I made for my Uncle Bob.  He was such a dear man, a real big teddy bear.  I made and sent him this card when it was discovered he Stampinuploadsoflovebob had cancer and was in the hospital.  (I just took a photo of it before I sent it). Unfortunately, he passed away before the card even arrived.

It did bring some comfort to his wife, my Aunt Jacque, in those first few days.  It brought home to me that this hobby of ours is more than just "having a play" – we have the opportunity to bring real joy to others.

Whether it's a random I Love You, an otherwise forgotten birthday, or preserving simple memories on a page, I challenge all of us to find a way, big or small, to touch someone else this week.  Let's not just save the I Love You's for Christmas, Valentine's and Birthdays – let's make it a personal challenge to share our love for others every month, every week and every day.  We never know what kind of impact we might have on someone who just needs to know that someone cares for them.

123008-colors[1] This week's colour challenge was easy for me with three daughters!  Give me pink, and I have thousands of photos to fit!  Really, when I do laundry, I can easily do a full load of just "pink"!!

These photos are some of my favourites of my two eldest daughters.  My father is an ameteur photographer, and he sat them down for a silly photo shoot by an old, rotten fence (Gee, it looks like the fence on my driveway).

Stampinupwildrosepage The papers here are from Daisy D's.  They came already distressed, but I did add a bit more on the cut edges. I just love the look of antiquing and distressing combined with subtle colours and feminine elements.  And, as always, I just adore lots of layers and visual textures with ribbons and stitching.

The stamp sets used here are Wild Rose and Blossoms Abound.  Wild Rose produces such an amazing result with Stampinupwildrose2 little effort.  I masked the flower here to put on the greenery.

This was a lot of fun – give me pink and I know just what to do!Stampinupwildrose3

See the above post for the Colour Challenge this week.

IMG_5763_edited-1 It's school holidays, so in order for me to get my page done, I had to find a way to occupy Miss Sofie as well.  I gave her the four colours in cardstock  and she had her go.  The glitter heart paper I gave her for Christmas was a "must", according to her.  "Pop Up cards – when you open them, something puffs up", says Sofie.

Sofie is six years old.

{Rubber Stamping Gift Idea}

Rivetbudgetwise Not just for Christmas, this is a fun gift idea for any time of the year!

I have a dear friend who has been diagnosed with cancer.  She's been in the hospital for surgery this last week, and my dad and I resolved to visit her every day.  Each day I took in a small gift – chapstick for her dry lips, an extra blanket to keep warm, a truffle, a book Fern's-vase to read.  One of the days we took in a vase with some scented flowers to fill her space with lovliness.  I cut some flowers for her and found a little vase at an op shop.  Dad scrubbed it shiny clean, and we were ready to go.  I just added this one last detail – one of Stampin Up's rub-ons from the Cherish collection right onto the glass.  It worked beautifully!  (You get a sheet of black and a sheet of white in each pack.)  I gave it a quick coat with clear nail polish so she could wash it without it coming off, too.  Now my $2 vase is something unique and special.

Try this with little hand mirrors, glass jars, wine glasses, etc.  I'd love to see what you come up with!
