It's been way too long since I was able to participate in a creative challenge, so it was fun to take part in this one!  I used it, actually, to make a scrapbooking layout, which I will post on Friday.  But the inspiration was this card and the Just Add Ink Vintage Challenge this week.

I taught this card in class a few weeks ago, and it's a perfect Mother's Day card.  How appropriate to say thank you to our mothers.  (I suppose I better get mine in the post today!)

Inspired by a card I saw online, I adapted to fit the supplies we have here in NZ.  The background is enbossed with our NEW Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  I bought out the dots with a bit of ink – a very cool look if you love antique like I do.

Of course the images are from the ever-popular and oh-so-yummy Vintage Vogue stamp set.   The centre of the large flower is the 5/8 inch brad – yes they are still available for purchase.  (If you have not seen the carry over – write-in products- flyer, email me or ask your demonstrator).  These babies are just perfect for the centre of this flower.

The centres of the smaller flowers – take a guess!  All correct answers will be sent a little treat via email.  use the comments section below.

Thank you to all who came by my stand at the Grand Wedding Show yesterday!  It was lovely to meet you and share in your enthusiasm for celebrating a big event in your lives.

I was thrilled to give a demonstration of three quick and affordable cards and projects for your consideration.  In case you missed it, here is the Easy No Template Triangle Box:

Stampin-up-Baroque-Motifs

All you need here is a rectangle of cardstock or printed paper and a few embellishments for the front (use the same stamps for your invitations and guest book to stretch those dollars further and to give your wedding stationery continuity).  Add a bit of ribbon to tie and you’re done!

Stampin-up-rich-razzleberry

This project works well with cardstock for extra sturdiness, but the printed paper has the double benefit of a splash of colour inside the box.  Love that!

This is one of my favourite designs!  I just adore the Raspberry Tart papers, especially when paired up with Chocolate Chip.

This is the same album I showcased here, but obviously with different colours and stamps.  Amazing how a shift in colour really makes a project look so different.  Which can be used to your advantage.  🙂

Stampinuppickapetal

Pick A Petal is such a versatile set!  Some of my ladies made lillies, some daisies, some butterflys, some dragonflys.  All looked really great.

Rivetbudgetwise This little beauty was inspired by the lovely Merilyn Irvine's card she sent me for my birthday.

The bride who wanted this design needed a couple things:  butterflies, Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery, relatively easy to make, and to keep within the budget her future husband had set out.

So we took three different cards and came up with this combination, simplifying Merilyn's original work for both mass production and to reduce cost-per-card.

It's really a neat "layout" for a card – a clever design and beautiful colours make all the difference!

Supplies Used:

Stamps: Butterfly Prints  $29.95, Baroque Motifs  $46.95

Colours: Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery

Other: White grosgrain ribbon, 3/4 circle punch, scallop edge punch, Butterfly Punch, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter

Stampinupscallopflower This is another version of some wedding invites I was desiging for a customer.  I like the simplicity of this one.

The "flowers" are pretty straight-forward – just cut portions off of the scallop circle punch-out and adhere at the base.  I curled up the leaves a bit and did some sponging to add some shadows.

The half-back pearls from the Pretties Kit and the frames from the HodgePodge kit sure do add elegance to a project.  Let me know what you think.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Supplies Used:

Stamps: Baroque Motifs  $46.95

Colours: Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, Very Vanilla, Creamy Caramel

Rivetgreatgiftidea You know how they say you'll always remember what you were doing when X happened.  Well, I designed this box the day I found out Michael Jackson had passed away.  Although I was in a sombre mood, I do like the sophisticated look the events of that day inspired.

Stampinupbellableu

An Explosion Box is the same concept as an Explosion Album – the idea being that it all folds up neatly into a box or book and then Surprise! Out comes all kind of panels and hidden places when opened.

Stampinupexplosionalbumbox

This is a very simple design, but does afford at least 22 places inside to slip in a photo, journaling, or embellishments.

The colouring on top is done with Blender Pens.  Why?  The flower image from Friends 24-7 is stamped with Brocade Blue, a water based ink.  So if you want to give it a soft, water-coloured look and use a water brush, the ink will smear all over the place. The blender pens offer a softer look than a straight marker, but doesn't smear a water-based ink.

Stampinupfriendlywords

The background wording is done with the beautiful Friendly Words wheel and Sahara Sand ink.  A bit of Kraft Taffeta ribbon and a couple of pearls finishes this off nicely.

This Explosion Box would make a very tasteful gift.

Order the supplies to make this box here or schedule a hands-on class here.

Supplies Used:

Stamps: Friends 24-7 $53.95, Friendly Words Wheel  $18.95

Colours: Kraft, Sahara Sand, Bordering Blue, Creamy Caramel

Other: Pretties Kit, Kraft Taffeta Ribbon, Blender Pens, Heart to Heart Punch, Curly Label Punch, Latte Buttons

{Scribble This 3D Flower}

Tricksofthetrade
Stampinupscribblethis A beautiful flower inspired by team member, Jennifer Montgomery. It's an easy, clever way to make a 3D portion to the Scribble This flower.  I made this up as a wedding invitation sample.

1. Simply stamp and cut out this big flower from this set three times.  I've chosen to make the bottom one Kiwi Kiss as pseudo greenery here.

2. Place a bit of adhesive on the tips of the petals of the top flower and fold or roll them underneath. When the big brad is placed in the centre, the flower petals will sort of pop up to create a lot of neat dimension.

3. I have also used my bone scorer to create a bit of a lift on the Kiwi Kiss and the Riding Hood Red petals.  Add just a hint of glitter to the top two flowers to differentiate them from the "leaves".Stampinupweddingcard

This big and the really big brads are being retired next week; don't miss out on these goodies!

Supplies Used:

Stamps:  Scribble This set of five  $71.95, En Francais background stamp $39.95

Colours: Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, Kiwi Kiss, Very Vanilla

Other: 5/16 neutrals brads assortment, Stylized Silver Hodge Podge Hardware, Pink Taffeta Ribbon, 1 inch circle punch, blender pen
