Black Ice with Waterfront – Sympathy Card

Like

Black Ice is a great, easy technique to create a real wow look to your projects!   I’ve used it here to create a sophisticated, subdued sympathy card paired with the Waterfront stamp set:

Even on a sympathy card, it’s nice to include a bright ribbon to really add some contrast.

And then I tried this the other orientation just for something a bit different. I think either works.

The entire focal image is created with just one ink pad.

  1. Drag the ink pad top to bottom and bottom to top to create those lines running through the image.
  2. Stamp image(s) as desired
  3. Heat set
  4. Use Versamark and Clear Emboss Powder over top of the image
  5. Heat again to set

We will be making this project and one other in stamp classes during April – join us!

High Tide Masculine Card with the Eclipse Technique – Tutorial Video

Like
Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Hi Stamping Friends!  The Eclipse Technique has been around for a little while, and it’s so easy and so effective!  If you haven’t seen it before, I hope you learn a little tip or two and give this a try:

I have paired this technique up with the High Tide stamp set, perfect for a guy or someone who enjoys nautical themes.   Simply stamp up your Whisper White card, and then cut the letters of your choice out!  It’s a bit “strange” to cut through your beautiful stamped images, but the result is worth it!

You will want to have the new Mini Dimensionals to adhere the letters back into your project – shopping list AND tutorial video below.  Enjoy!

Beautiful Peacock – Last Two Days of SaleABration!

Like
Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Wow the time has gone quickly – SaleABration is almost to a close.  Orders need to be in by tomorrow evening to receive SaleABration gifts!

Today’s share is what I taught at the Nelson Extravaganza and features one of the many lovely stamp sets you can choose for free during March only:

The concept of this project was shown to Demonstrators last November at our worldwide training day.   I just loved the texture and dimension on this card.

The peacock elements come all separate, so you can omit and add as you please and, of course, stamp them in various colours to suit.

The Calypso Coral Shimmer Ribbon comes in a pack of three ribbons (Bermuda Bay and Basic Gray) and these are also a SaleABration gift option.   I’ve ruffled it along the side here.  And for the tail, we shredded the ribbon and added some sparkles for a really dressed up peacock!

Don’t forget – this beauty is available through 31 March (tomorrow) only!

Colour Inkspiration #28 – Petal Palette in Vintage

Like
Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Welcome to another blog hop with the Colour Inkspiration Crew!  This is a fun colour challenge every fortnight, designed to inspire you (and us!) to use colours and combinations we might not have thought to use on our own.

Challenge #27 is:

Soft Suede, Bermuda Bay, Sweet Sugarplum, and Lemon Lime Twist!

My inspiration not only came from the colour challenge, but from a more simple sample from the back of a Stampin’ Success magazine a few months ago.  (Stampin’ Success is a magazine sent to Stampin’ Up! demonstrators with project and class ideas as well as product information).  I just loved the layout and the simplicity, but I added a bit more to it and changed the colours.

We are so lucky to be in a time where we have access to so many ideas and samples and can adjust them to suit our own style and occasions.

The Petal Palette bundle is so sweet.  The images are all created to look watercoloured, which is a nice look for a variety of styles giving you maximum versatility with these images.

I have white embossed the outline images here and did a really messy watercolour look. It goes along with the paint coming off the background paper!  Shopping and supply list below.

Thanks for stopping in!  Next stop: Bronwyn Eastley!

Watercolor Background Technique with the Pattern Party Masks

1

Today’s share is a background technique using both watercolour paper and a mask.  It takes a little drying time, but is simple to do:

  1. Brush the colors onto Watercolor Paper until you get a look you like.
  2. While still wet, place the mask of your choice over the paper and secure it down really flat, like with weights or tape.  Spritz with water again.
  3. Let dry.  Do not use a heat tool if you mask is plastic!!  (I know this!)

It may take a few tries to get it to look just as you wanted. Experiment with different colors and with different intensities of color.

I wanted to keep the rest of it simple in order to highlight the background.  Just some black words and a contrasting, but complimentary, ribbon highlights this nicely.

Supply list below. And don’t forget: any order of $110 gets a free SaleABration gift! And shop with me and get a free bundle of 12 tutorials from 12 designers!

Thanks for stopping by and have a good Auckland Anniversary Weekend!

All Stars December Blog Hop – Beautiful Bouquet!

Like
Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Welcome to another Blog Hop around the All Stars Design Team!  You have landed in New Zealand at Jacque Williams’ blog!  This month we are featuring bundles from both the Holiday and the Annual Catalogue, and I’m choosing to feature the Beautiful Bouquet bundle:

The card design itself is simple, but I had a lot of fun creating those flowers!

Isn’t this just a fun look?  Each and every flower is different thanks to a little magic using the Subtles Ink Refills, Watercolor Paper, and the Aqua Painter brush.   Basically I just created my own washed paper, let dry, and die cut from there.

Assemble your beautiful bouquet and adhere to a Stitched Shape Oval. Now if you don’t have the Stitched Shape Framelits yet, I strongly encourage you to make that investment. They are just SO useful!

All these pretty elements are paired with the darkest wood print in the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack for a striking contrast.

I have made another project with this gorgeous bundle, which you can find in our December All Stars Tutorial – FREE with any $50 order through me during December or you can order below:

Night of Navy Cat – Eclipse Technique

Like
Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

The Eclipse Technique is all over Pinterest at the moment, and using the new Cat Punch is a quick and easy way to make a card with this fun technique. Here is my version, inspired by the talented Susan Campfield:

The colours are simple Night of Navy and Whisper White, a truly classic combination.

The embossing folder is the new Quilt Top from the Holiday Catalogue.  I don’t know if this one will stay around – please order it before end of December!

There are a few different way to achieve this look, but I have done it this way:

  1. Stamp the flowers on the Whisper White panel
  2. Punch out the cat from the same panel
  3. Punch out three cats from Night of Navy scraps
  4. Adhere the white “outline” piece from the punch onto the Night of Navy mat
  5. Layer the three Night of Navy cats into the “hole”.
  6. Finish with the Whisper White cat on top.

The new Crinkle Seam binding is just so nice to tie; it’s soft and drapes nicely. It comes in four colours, too!

A Series of Vintage Cards using the New Embossing Paste!

Like
Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Happy Monday!  Today’s share is my project taught at the recent run of Winter Extravaganzas (Tauranga, Auckland, Nelson and Hamilton).  I must admit teaching this one because it was SO much FUN!  It was amazing to see what people created.

By the way, this card was also my Swap for Thailand.

The “background” paper is the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper, so each project had a different wood grain as a foundation. But as you can see, they all look great!  I love these papers!

We started by stamping the Sheet Music background stamp onto the Wood Texture paper and had a little lesson is how to make sure the music is right side up.

Next everyone coloured and used the Embossing Paste in a variety of masks. Between the different printed papers, different colours, and different embossing masks – each card was truly unique.

Here I have mixed Night of Navy and Fresh Fig to come up with this RICH purple colour. I love the contrast with the Night of Navy Ribbon.

On this card, I used a very dark wood pattern, skipped the Sheet Music step, and used the Brick Mask.  I think in this case I just used some leftover bits and pieces after a group had done their Embossing Paste, so I have a mixture of blue paste with some Berry Burst highlights around the edges.

This version also features more of a two-toned look using the Medallion Mask.  I like the texture left in the paste, too.

And the Diamond Mask is also quite beautiful.  I’ve covered the entire card front here, using more of an ombre technique, adding more and more ink to the paste as I went.   But you can also “fade off” the diamonds like in the brick sample above.

It’s hard to pick a favorite!  I think they are all gorgeous and I look so forward to playing with the Embossing Paste even more in my August classes!

Thank you to all who were able to attend our team Extravaganzas – we appreciate your support and love to bring you joy!

You Mean So Much Emboss Resist Scrapbooking Layout

Like
Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

This month’s scrapbooking layout features the Emboss Resist technique – a FUN and different way to use your stamped images!

I love the colour combination of blue and green, and the new Tranquil Tide and Lemon Lime Twist are a fresh duo:

I will confess this is one of those projects that just looks like a big mess until it’s all put together and finished!  Even my daughter told me it was ugly when I was “in process”.

The background is done with just a sheet of Whisper White, which I’ve stamped and clear embossed with various images.   Then I took three inks: Tranquil Tide, Lemon Lime Twist, and Pool Party and sponged colour in a diagonal “line” across the page.

The die cuts are from the Flourishes die set, one of those “must haves” if you like pretty details!   I gently inked them up.

I used the Stitched Shapes dies to create the two circles on the page. (Quite honestly, the Stitched Shapes die set is another “must have” – I use these so much!)

I designed this page in May when I didn’t have access to the new papers and the existing ones were all being discontinued, so . . . .I made my own!   The element above with the dragonfly is just a sheet of Whisper White stamped up using the Awesomely Artistic set so create a unique “printed paper”.

This is a great little tip for anyone – when you just don’t have that quite right paper, with inks and stamps, it’s easy to make one to perfectly coordinate.

Hmmm this piece across the bottom of the layout is a bit different!   This is also emboss resist, so it perfectly ties in with the main page, but is different enough to be visually interesting.

And although almost nobody in class gets this part done, sometimes I like to include a coordinating pocket page with the layout.  I hope it shows how easy it is to get a few more photos in using the same bits and pieces one probably already has out doing the first page.  And it’s a good way to use up any little leftover scraps.

And that’s me for this Thursday evening.  Thanks for stopping by!

Vintage Background Bits – Colour INspiration 11

Welcome to another Colour Inspiration Colour Challenge!  You are now visiting Jacque Williams in New Zealand.  This fortnight we have #11 – a yummy mix of Soft Suede, Marina Mist, and Early Espresso.

Please join us over the next two weeks uploading your own projects in the above colours (plus black, white, vanilla or any metallics) by joining us on the Colour Inkspiration Challenge Page.  It’s also quite fun to see what others create!

I chose to use one of the new host sets, Background Bits.  I just love the versatile and vintage feel to this set:

The main image is heat embossed in Clear Embossing Powder and then inked over the top in all three of the challenge colours.  I used a circle out of scrap cardstock to mask off the moon image while sponging, too.

This is such an easy to way to create a wow background!

I also used the script stamp in the set to do a little bit more stamping onto the background.

Finish off with a bit of glitter. And just a bit in keeping with the vintage style!

Background Bits is a host set, meaning you can receive it free when you host a Stampin’ Up! workshop OR when you/you and some friends place an order of $300 or more.  It’s a truly gorgeous set!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I know you’ll enjoy the rest of the hop.  You’ll be visiting the talented Lou Kitzelman next!

If you live in New Zealand and don’t have a demonstrator, I’d love to be yours!   I’m having a Free Open House for the new catalogue 17 June 10-1pm.   Come along and make some projects, take photos of new displays, and have a cuppa!   Feel free to bring a friend, too.   Free gift for the first five registrants.  Register HERE.

Happy first day of June and the first day of our new Annual Catalogue!  I had a great deal of fun putting through orders (mostly for myself!) this morning. There is nothing quite inspiring like a few new toys!

Today’s share is a fun Double Front Window Card using the new Happy Birthday Gorgeous Bundle:

Please also note the gorgeous, fantastic, versatile Wood Textures papers used here!  How I love these!  Wonderful with flowers, masculine, teens, baby — just anything at all!  I encourage all of you to put these beauties on your first order!

The front panel of the card features a window, which I encourage you to watch the video below to see just how I did that to create the matted frame.  The second layer of the card showcases a second wood print with a bit of stamping.

The Happy Birthday Die makes for a more interesting window here, but also consider you can cut the two words apart and use them separately for even more versatility!

Please take a few moments to watch my video and see how to make a card like this:

Thanks so much for stopping by – I appreciate each and every one of you!  I hope you are enjoying the new catalogue and I look forward to another Stampin’ Up! year of inspiration, laughs and fun!  Please join us for a class!

Cool Treats Pocket Page and Scrapbooking Layout – and Last Day for Retiring Stock!

Like
Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry
11

And it’s already the last day of May!  I am surely glad it’s been a mild winter so far!

Just a reminder that today is the last day to order from the Retiring List (and check out the Clearance Rack while there).   Good bargains to be had and there are always items that are sorely missed.  Please do have a look before midnight tonight.

Today’s share is a scrapbooking layout I designed months ago and never posted.   These yummy papers are being discontinued as of tomorrow, so today is the day to post:

I’ve used the Cool Treats Bundle along with the Sprinkles Embellishments and the coordinating Designer Series Paper.   How I adore these fresh, miniature ice blocks!   It’s easy to create the different shades of the same colour even with one ink pad:

  1. Stamp off (onto a scrap) and then stamp your project for a lighter colour.  You can even stamp off multiple times
  2. Or stamp over the same spot twice for a darker colour.  So easy!

The design for this layout came from the Demonstrator-Only magazine, Impressions.  They had a sample done in different papers and images, and I adapted to what I wanted to use.  We are very inundated with inspiration being Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators – finding ideas is no problem at all!!!

With the new catalogue launching tomorrow, it’s a great time to join my team, enjoy a discount, attend team gatherings and trainings, and start your own small or big business!  Find out more HERE.

I forget to to this, but using die cuts and tone on tone paper is a great look.  And what an inexpensive and easy way to embellish or create a background, too.

I also created up a simple Pocket Page to go along with the layout, seeing as it was only a single page layout.  Pocket Pages are a great way to add in a lot more photos; you can just slip these pages in with your standard 12×12 pages.    I’d put a lot more photos on this than I have here; I just put all the embellishments facing one way for ease of my students and the photography.

Thank you so much for stopping by and see you tomorrow in a new Stampin’ Up! Catalogue year!
