Happy Together Monochromatic Scrapbooking Layout

Today’s share is a recent layout I made featuring the Butterfly Thinlits Dies and the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  As well as lots and lots of embossing!

stampin up endless thanks crazy about you 3 photo monochromatic scrapbooking layoutThe colours are simple so the photos really stand out, but the techniques here are not so simple. It took a fair bit of puzzling to get it all to work, but the clients who have come to this class so far have done very well!

It’s been a fun discovery to learn how to colour the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and has really opened up so many possibilities!  Love the shaded effect and the sparkle of these delicate butterflies on this pretty page.   And the embellishment is from the Wonderland series in the Holiday Catalogue (see below).

stampin up hello you scrapbooking layout monochromatic 3 photoUsed over and over and over, love the Crazy About You bundle for scrapbooking layouts!  I’ve just glued it down in a few places here to keep the dimensional look all the embossing provides.  The new Fine Tip Glue Pen is a must for fine pieces.

stampin up hidden tags endless thanks layout scrapbookingA couple of hidden tags with a bit of ribbon of colour make the layout even more interesting.   It’s important to journal and to include your own handwriting at least some of the time.   A hidden tag is a great way to write without “ruining the layout” or to write things very personal.

Awesomely Artistic (again!) Layout – this time on Wood

Like
Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

I tease my clients that at each class, chances are pretty high they will be using the Awesomely Artistic stamp set . . . and for good reason!  I find this is my “go to” set this year. It just has a bit of everything and is easy to layer.

I had clear instructions to do a layout with JUST my middle daughter, Kjirsti, who was feeling slighted somehow.   We have a running joke with her that we buy her a red with white polka dots present every year, so of course I had to use this particular print in the pack as the accent:

Stampin Up Farmer's Market layoutI took this concept right out of the Stampin’ Up! catalogue – they have a similar sample in there, but of course I changed it up some to fit my style and photo.     I’ve used this yummy WOOD background paper from the Farmer’s Market pack . . . I could use this paper all day long.

Random, layered stamping is one of my favorites. Here I’ve used the Hello, Honey, Night of Navy, and Old Olive inks.

stampin up natural wood expressions farmer's marketThe wooden words from the Expressions Natural Elements adds a bit of visual texture to the layout.  And these are a good price – 15 words for 10.75!  (five each of Celebrate, Congrats, and Thanks – shopping links below).

stampin up farmers market doily awesomely artisticI will be teaching this layout at the Hamilton Quilt and Craft Show Sept 3-6 every day at 2pm.  Depending on who attends at the show, I may also teach this at the Hamilton Scrap day 19 September and the Tauranga day 26 September.  See my Calendar page for a full listing.

Butterfly Basics Project LIfe Layout

Have you tried the Project Life method of scrapbooking?   I’ve done a number of layouts, and have found this to be a very easy and fast way to preserve your memories!

The concept is based on pockets – just fill in the pockets with your photos and any remaining pockets, you can fill in with pre-printed cards or create your own, like I’ve done here.  Use bits of leftover projects, a card front – or just leave one pocket blank and journal.  Couldn’t be easier!

stampin up project life butterfly basics blackberry blissI’ve used the Butterfly Basics stamps here along with the colours Blackberry Bliss, Sahara Sand, and Rose Red.

A row of pearls finishes off these stunning butterflies.

I’ve used the Crazy About You stamp set and dies for the title.  This is a great scrapbooking set to have!

I heat embossed these “ferns” with Iridescent Ice and Whisper White ink.   Of course, the photo doesn’t do justice.

Give this a try!  The pages and not expensive; start by just using a stack of photos and what  you have on hand.  Shopping list below:

Do More of What Makes you Happy Scrapbooking Layout

One thing I love about Stampin’ Up! is just the vast versatility of so many of the products!   Isn’t it fun to see the same thing used in so many different ways?  Here I’ve created a fun, happy layout using some of my most treasured pictures of my youngest daughter, Sofie.  She took these herself, unbeknownst to me, while we had a “girl’s day out” together:

I’ve used the fun, bright Cherry on Top paper stack to compliment what Sofie is wearing.  I’m not much into bright colours, but teamed with a lot of white, it’s quite striking.

stampin up cherry on top bermuda bay hello lifeWashi tape too wide?  Trim in half!

I’ve used the very cool Alphabet Rotary Stamp here – a cool way to spell out names or whatever you want!

stampin up pansy punch hello life scrapbook layoutA simple, bold flower accents the layout using the ever-popular Pansy Punch.

I’ve used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp here, but this time in Bermuda Bay, rather than a brown.  I find this stamp is best used sparingly, so it’s not really noticed, but adds visual texture.

Awesomely Artistic Vintage Scrapbooking Layout – The Best Things Aren’t Things

My most used stamp set thus far from the New Catalogue is Amazingly Artistic  – love all the variety and the cool layering in this set!   I used this for my Hawaiian Grand Vacation swap, and you may well recognize then the inspiration for this layout:

stampin up amazingly artistic vintage layout masculineThese photos are some of my favorites – Rob and I went on a weekend away up north and my eldest, Madeleine, for some unknown reason wanted to go with us.  And we had the best time!  This is an unplanned, no make-up, dress up photo shoot we did on a whim.  So fun to “play” with the kids even as they emerge into adults.

stampin up amazingly artistic craft white vintage kraft card typeset dspI’ve used our lovely, thick Kraft cardstock as the base here, and stamped that wonderful floral bunch as a border in the Craft Whisper White ink (love that ink!).

stampin up amazingly artistic swap inspired typeset layout bermuda bayAnd this part is reminiscent of my swap, which was a box.  I changed up the words to fit the layout and added a shiny, black heart to go with our pirate theme!!

stampin up amazingly artistic feel goods scrapbooking layoutAnd this stamp from Feel Goods could really go on every scrapbook page ever made – it’s truth.  Love this and I sure do love my girl.

A simple design, but one that uses a little different technique or product on each circle.  This is a great layout to use up those last one of different bits and pieces.

Many of the embellishments came from the Artisan Kit, a personal favorite from the Occasions Catalogue.  This velvet Rich Razzleberry ribbon comes with the kit.

stampin up butterfly basics layout scrapbookingThe stamps are from the much-loved Butterfly Basics.  Of course, you can re-create this layout in any colours and with any embellishments you have!  All you really need are some circle punches.

stampin up butterfly basics rich razzleberry vintage brads layout scrapbookingThe Hello, You Thinlits are also a favorite at the moment, particularly for scrapbooking pages.  Love the font and the ease. Here’s hoping they carry on the new catalogue coming 2 June!

Stacked with Love – A Masculine Layout

Like
Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

It’s not often a design a masculine layout, and to be totally fair, this one is pretty “neutral”, but it does have a pic of my husband on it. That should count!  🙂

I’ve used the new Stacked With Love paper stack (24 prints for $14.50!) to create a fun background:

stampin up stacked with love scrapbooking layoutThe big background piece is from the Back to Black Designer Series Papers, a nice set of all black and white prints.

stampin up stacked with love scrapbooking easyThe Perfect Prints Numbers die has this fun heart and heart outline – nice for adding a bit of something that’s not too visually heavy.  And I still love this font – very fresh.

stampin up masculine layout scrapbooking scrapped with loveAnd remember Crystal Effects?  Yes, it’s still around. I just don’t use it often because it takes so long to dry, but the results are just stunning.  A nice way to add a bit of bling without being too girly about it.  🙂

Something Borrowed?

Like
Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

I challenged myself to use the Something Borrowed Designer Series Paper and the Artisan Kit to create a timeless, “clean vintage” layout.  This one is yet another one of my girls when they were bridesmaids . . . the fact is: those photos in those colours work in so well with many of the Stampin’ Up! colours!  Lucky that.

The papers are the Something Borrowed series, a lovely set of all Sahara Sand prints.  I created that background shape using the Simply Scored Border Plate – a nice effect.

I LOVE how this flower turned out!   Using only the Pansy Punch, I’ve crinkled it up in my hand, inked the edges and layered them together.   That gorgeous embellishment in the centre is also from the Something Borrowed series.  ($14.50 for 12)

Those yummy ribbon roses are from the Artisan kit, along with the velvet ribbon, too.

And that resist paper above is one of the many FREE SaleABration offerings – order now before March 31 when they disappear!!  Shopping list below:

Enjoy your weekend!  I’m off to Nelson in the morning to spend the day crafting with the ladies there!
