You Mean So Much Emboss Resist Scrapbooking Layout

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

This month’s scrapbooking layout features the Emboss Resist technique – a FUN and different way to use your stamped images!

I love the colour combination of blue and green, and the new Tranquil Tide and Lemon Lime Twist are a fresh duo:

I will confess this is one of those projects that just looks like a big mess until it’s all put together and finished!  Even my daughter told me it was ugly when I was “in process”.

The background is done with just a sheet of Whisper White, which I’ve stamped and clear embossed with various images.   Then I took three inks: Tranquil Tide, Lemon Lime Twist, and Pool Party and sponged colour in a diagonal “line” across the page.

The die cuts are from the Flourishes die set, one of those “must haves” if you like pretty details!   I gently inked them up.

I used the Stitched Shapes dies to create the two circles on the page. (Quite honestly, the Stitched Shapes die set is another “must have” – I use these so much!)

I designed this page in May when I didn’t have access to the new papers and the existing ones were all being discontinued, so . . . .I made my own!   The element above with the dragonfly is just a sheet of Whisper White stamped up using the Awesomely Artistic set so create a unique “printed paper”.

This is a great little tip for anyone – when you just don’t have that quite right paper, with inks and stamps, it’s easy to make one to perfectly coordinate.

Hmmm this piece across the bottom of the layout is a bit different!   This is also emboss resist, so it perfectly ties in with the main page, but is different enough to be visually interesting.

And although almost nobody in class gets this part done, sometimes I like to include a coordinating pocket page with the layout.  I hope it shows how easy it is to get a few more photos in using the same bits and pieces one probably already has out doing the first page.  And it’s a good way to use up any little leftover scraps.

And that’s me for this Thursday evening.  Thanks for stopping by!

South Pacific Thailand Grand Vacation Swap

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

I’m back in the land of winter and freezing!  Well after super hot Thailand, New Zealand certainly feels freezing!  We had such a fantastic time. I was lucky this year and was able to take my two youngest children, Sofie and Kjirsti.  It was the first time we’ve taken “extras” on the trip with us, which sure made the trip even more fun and also more logistically tricky.  However, I do thoroughly enjoy that all three of my daughters have now been on a trip and all three of them can see a tiny bit of the “big picture” of Stampin’ Up! – that there is SO MUCH more than just papercrafting to this team and business.

Phi Phi Island

The South Pacific Achievers decided to have a smaller swap between ourselves, something we’ve done for the last few years.   We decided to have a Memories & More (Pocket Page) swap, so we could all take home not only fun samples, but use them to create an album right away with our Thailand photos.  I love this idea!

Here is my submission, a 3×4 inch card for slotting into the pockets of the Memories & More pages to enhance photos:

I used a card design from my Open House as inspiration.  These go together so quickly – even those who aren’t “into” scrapbooking could totally get into this!

And here are the swaps from the other South Pacific Achievers:

The variety is neat! We all stuck with one colour theme, though, so they will all work in together. Each one is a mini piece of art.

Clever girls. Some even worked in a wee elephant!

I saw with sincerity that the other demonstrators in the South Pacific have become like family over the years.  When we had the smaller Grand Vacations (just New Zealand and Australia), it gave us a chance to become really close.  I so appreciate their warmth and friendship.  And now our trips are global, which although there is less intimacy, there is also greater opportunity to expand our circles of friends.  How I love Stampin’ Up! and all it stands for and all the opportunities it provides and good people involved.

Feeling greatly blessed tonight.

Cool Treats Pocket Letter Swap in New Zealand!

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Well this week has just run away!   One of the MANY fun things we did at camp was organize and take part in our first ever Pocket Letter Swap!  What’s a pocket letter?

It had to be explained to me many times!  Basically it’s done Project Life sort of style in the plastic pocket sleeves.  Create little works of art featuring a theme or a suite of products on one side. The back side usually has trinkets, treats, product, and a letter!

Here is what I swapped with someone else:

We decided as a group to use the 6×8 sized pages instead of the 12×12’s for our first attempt.  It’s a good size to get one’s feet wet anyway.

The Cool Treats Suite is probably my favorite suite in the entire catalogue!  I love how both neutral and versatile this one can be!   And don’t you just love that wee spoon?!

The coordinating dies make it so easy to make everything look just right!  I don’t know about you, but these images so remind me of my childhood.  Bright red lips, cherry red tongues, and sticky fingers all around.

And on the back I have included some coordinating product and a small note of affection.

Now this was my first attempt, but I must say I’m a bit hooked on the idea of Pocket Letters!  And I think the team is, too.  If you would like to be part of our awesome team who loves to craft and share so much, I’d love to have you!

You can read more about us HERE.

Thanks for stopping by!

P.S. I also made some NOTEBOOKS with the Cool Treats Suite!  And if you’re coming to the Tauranga Extravaganza 18 March, you’ll be making a window card with this winner as well!
