Peekaboo cards are a fun twist on the traditional card and hold a sweet inside!  This is a take on the lovely card AnneMarie designed a few weeks ago.

Stampinuppeekaboo Once you know where to score, this one goes together very quickly.  The centre window is made using the circle scallop punch, and then the remaining image is used to layer on the front.

The focal image is done using In the Stars stamp set and the two sizes of star punches.  I added just a bit of glitter, even though I was going for masculine!  I did run this by my husband, and he gave his approval.

Colours Used: chocolate chip, Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi

Stampinuppeekaboo2 Stamps Used: In the Stars, Rough Texture jumbo wheel

Other: Scallop circle punch, both star punches, Scallop Edge Punch, silver brad, Dazzling Diamonds glitter

The chocolate heart inside is from the Chocolate Boutique and come in a myriad of colours.

Stampinupsomethingfishy3 Are you like me?  Do you sometimes pick up those chipboard pieces and wonder what to do with them?

I fiddled with these last week and came up with a result with which I am very pleased.  (Eldest daughter Madeleine "helped" me by telling me when it looked bad).  I used this technique on the title of my Sun Fun scrapbook page.  And, of course, chipboard is an easy accessory for those tricky masculine projects.

See below for the tutorial of what I did; Stampinupsomethingfishy2  this is just the basics – the possibilites are endless!  See here for the tutorial on how I did the flowers for this page.

I'd love to see how you use your chipboard!  Besides embossing, some other ideas are:

1. cover with designer series paper

2. cover with versamark and pastels

3. stamp straight onto the board itself

020409-color[1]   I love these photos!  I am lucky my father is an ameteur photographer, so I have loads and loads of awesome photos!  These beautiful shots are of my second daughter at a beach in Washington state taken by my father.  She's was such a happy kid!  Still is!

I actually had these colours pulled out before the colour challenge was put up this week, although I have swapped the Taken with Teal for it's daughter, Stampinupsomethingfishy Tempting Turquoise.  I struggled with this one for three days . . .I believe this is a scrapbooking thing: it doesn't work, doesn't work, and then the next day you wake up and it just fits.

I *really* wanted to use this wheel, Something Fishy, and the coordiating stamp set, Life's a Breeze. I just adore them & they had not yet seen ink!

I wanted to go with the clear buttons on this one, to sort of repeat the "bubble" theme from the wheel images.  So I've got clear buttons in the centre of all the flowers, on the hidden journaling tag, and on photo #2 over punched circles of Designer Series Paper from the Petals and Paisleys collection.

Stampinupsomethingfishy5 The title just turned out so neat!  I fiddled and fiddled with what I would do, and really love the final result.  Movie Monday will show what I did here and how.

{Masculine Valentine Double Card}

Fancyfoldfriday

Rivetmaleapproved Likely the most difficult cards to design . .  masculine!  And a Valentine to boot!

Inspired by the beautiful elements from Nicki Tidbold's swap, I set out to design a card for the men in our lives.

IMG_5309_edited-1 I have used a double card design here for added interest.  The concept is simple – make a smaller, coordinating card and adhere to the front of Stampinupmasculinevalentine your main card, which gives you lots of room for writing love notes (or for an invitation!).  I told my ladies that were here for class that if you didn't have much to say, then just do some conveniently extra stamping inside the cards!

This card uses a neat trick with the crimper.  First, run your card through one way, turn it 90 degrees, and run it through again. Repeat until you have the texture you would like.

Stampinupmasculineval The buckles or hinges here is the Designer Label punch turned sideways.  Love it!

The hearts used here are great for Masculine Valentine because they are not toooo girly.  They are from the set Polka Dot Punches and you can only get this set for FREE during Sale-A-Bration (running through the end of the month) with any qualifying order or workshop.  I love the punched tin look of these stamps.  And the fact that they coordinate with the punches makes them extra easy to use!

Yes, you still have time to get this set before Valentine's Day! Email me to get yours sent out today!

Colours used:  Blue Bayou, Wild Wasabi, Chocolate chip, Whisper White, Soft Sky

Stampin' Up Stamps Used: Sanded Background, Polka Dot Punches

Other: Crimper, jumbo eyelets, Designer Label Punch, Sponge Daubers, Double stitched ribbon

Stampinuphedgehog2 I never before thought hedgehogs were cute.

In fact, I often wondered what the fascination was with all the hedgehog stamps so popular in other brands.

Then one day, while walking to the pool, we found a baby hedgehog on the pathway, orphaned and so tiny.  And what mother can leave a baby alone?

In the end, we had her for five days, and then she passed on, despite our best efforts to keep the baby alive.  There are a few kind ladies in Auckland who specialize in helping out hedgehogs, and Stampinuphedgehog neither of them charge a fee for their services.  So I made up a pack of these cards to send as a thank you to the ladies who drove over the try and save the baby.  It mean a lot to me and to my girls that people have such kind and generous spirits to help out the small creatures.

This card is quite straightforward, except for the scalloped frame.  Take two on the videos for a short visual tutorial!  To order your scallop edge punch, email me today!

Rivetmaleapproved Isn't this just adorable?  My challenge was to find a masculine Valentine's card that was also quick and easy – and this was just the thing.

Stampinupahappyheart The Real Red & Chocolate Chip combination is always a winner for the male set.  And this stamp set in the Summer Mini is a set with so many possibilities – a real value for money.  The centre heart here is punched out with the 1/2 inch circle punch and the two hearts and quickly cut out with the paper snips.

The main image is stamped on one of the papers from the Notebook Designer Series Papers.  The designs on these ones are rather subdued, making them perfect for stamping while adding that little bit of extra visual interest.

This design can also be done in different colours, of course, and done up quickly for little notes for co-workers or school friends.

To book into my Valentine's Class on January 28th or to order your A Happy Heart stamp set, please email me today!

The original artist can be seen here.  Many thanks for all the talented ladies who continually provide inspiration!

011309-color[1] My assignment today was to create a baby card using some of our new products, and I decided to combine it with the colour challenge for a non-traditional finish.

The products used here are the Nursery Letters jumbo wheel and the two sizes of star punches.  I based the card on Jan Tink's neat design, although I removed a few elements to make this project a bit more manageable for a class.

Stampinupbaby The wheeling is done on Pretty in Pink for a more subdued look.  I really do like the star images, both the punches and the stamps.  I think I will make a star chain on my next layout .  . stay tuned because now I've committed myself!

I really could not decide between the two ribbons – in fact I dithered over this entire project for way too long . . . so I just decided to post both and call them girl and boy.  Which do you prefer?  (the Stampinupbabygirl ribbons, not girls vs boys, please  🙂

Rivetmaleapproved This is just a few cute & fast little card that I made for my Uncle Bob.  He was such a dear man, a real big teddy bear.  I made and sent him this card when it was discovered he Stampinuploadsoflovebob had cancer and was in the hospital.  (I just took a photo of it before I sent it). Unfortunately, he passed away before the card even arrived.

It did bring some comfort to his wife, my Aunt Jacque, in those first few days.  It brought home to me that this hobby of ours is more than just "having a play" – we have the opportunity to bring real joy to others.

Whether it's a random I Love You, an otherwise forgotten birthday, or preserving simple memories on a page, I challenge all of us to find a way, big or small, to touch someone else this week.  Let's not just save the I Love You's for Christmas, Valentine's and Birthdays – let's make it a personal challenge to share our love for others every month, every week and every day.  We never know what kind of impact we might have on someone who just needs to know that someone cares for them.
