Going Global Masculine Card – Just Add Ink #295

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Happy Wednesday!  I needed to make a card today for a good friend who really helped out our family last week. It was a perfect opportunity to play along with the JAI Challenge this week, too:

JAI Sketch_2-019

My favorite masculine stamp set at the moment is the new Going Global, paired with the Going Places Paper Stack.  I love the astronomical, orienteering, and map references.

stampin up going places global masculine cardI chose to go with the astronomical references here; he’s a family friend and didn’t want to go too mushy.

~ Use the Star Framelits (two nested together) to create the star outline. Easy!

~ Roll the edges of the circle in the Memento Black Ink to help it stand out from the Vanilla Background

~ Remove the Mint threads from the new Baker’s Twine Combo Pack to make black twine.

~ Use the Project Life Journal Pens to doodle a simple background and borders for the stars.

Masculine Hex and Bolts Project

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

One of my favorite Stampin’ Up! tools are the punches – and this project features a fun way to use them! Create a very cool masculine card using the Hexagon Punch and the 1/2 inch Circle Punch!

This card idea was sent to me by a friend and i have endeavored to find the source to no avail.

stampin up moonlight stars intertwinedI then made another version, this time intertwining stars for a younger child look or even a baby card.  Threw in a bit of the yummy Gold Glimmer Paper too.

Happy Happy Birthday to Rob!

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Today is my Robert's birthday!  We've had a pretty fun weekend, mixed in with a bit of teaching and working on his man cave.  Soie has made him a strawberry cake, which is a good girl seeing as Kjirsti and I have given up chocolate for 2014.  (It's not been that bad!)

So I made him a card somewhat similar to a masculine valentine's I made a few weeks ago, using the Retro Fresh printed papers:

I just like that big wooden button!

The Starburst Sayings set is a great one for guys – they resemble a medalion or a medal when cut out, and what man doesn't like to get one of those?!  LOL

Now shhh, don't tell him, but I am tucking a voucher for a massage inside.

Happy Birthday, my dear Robert!  I love you!

Supplies Used:

Stamps: Starburst Sayings

Colours: Tangerine Tango, Coastal Cabana, Baked Brown Sugar, So Saffron

Other: Naturals Buttons, Chevron Naturals Ribbon, Retro Fresh DSP, Retro Fresh Washi Tape

World’s Greatest Father’s Day Tin

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

These papers are now retired, but I forgot to share this one with you!  I did this project with my fun little holiday program group I had here a few weeks ago.  They loved it and all the projects turned out so differently!  (I let them all choose their own papers and have a good old play).

Kids are so fun.

Stampin up worlds greatest

We took some empty paint tins and decorated them up with "dad-like" papers and stamped out the World's Greatest for our dads, grandpas and uncles.  None of these kids were wanting to do this for any brothers . . . give them another 15 years.  🙂

Altered paint can

We filled half the tin up with brown paper, leaving the other half for chocolates or similar.  I wasn't about to fill up their tins with lollies this far ahead of the date!  Hmmmm….

I'm happy to say that this tin pictured was my sample one. It was full of cadbury favorites.  And it went with me to Utah, where we met up with my very own dad, who drove down from Boise to see us.  It was nice to give my daddy a present that said DAD across the front.  Made me feel about 7 again.  I loved it and so did he.

Isn't it wonderful to have the sun shining today?  I almost feel a sunburn on my arm as I write this is my fabulous new studio (thanks, Rob!).

Have a lovely weekend and I look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow at our Auckland Extravaganza or Sunday at the Hamilton Extravaganza!

Grunge Masculine Card MOJO305

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

“I’m so Grateful There’s You in the world” . . is such a nice stamp.  And perfect for any guy, any age.  I think I want to use this one on a scrapbook layout, too, and soon!

I wanted to make a masculine project for my Birkenhead stamp class last night in preparation for Father’s Day in a few weeks in this part of the world.  I went to the Mojo Monday blog for a sketch to get me started:

And wanted to use Washi Tape, so this is what I came up with:

Stampin up epic day gorgeous grunge burlap vintage masculine

I’ve used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set on the background here, using the “scratch” image both directions to form a crosshatch.  Reminds me of an old piece of wood.

Stampin up epic day chalk talk masculine card

Well I tried about 12 different backgrounds for these words and finally settled on the Soft Suede CoreDinations cardstock for a soft, weathered look.  I can’t get enough of this product!!

And finally the Washi Tape came last, which was what I wanted to use in the first place.  🙂  Was just the right thing to visually anchor that background paper down.  And I used a bit on the inside of the card as well:

The papers are all from the Epic Day Designer Series Papers, one of my favorites this year.  Combining “soft” colours with vintage has always had appeal!  And don’t forget the papers are Buy 3 Get 1 Free, too!

And did you notice the Sneak Peek product on this one?  To be revealed Sept 1st in our new Seasonal Catalogue!

Masculine Happy Birthday with Rolled CAndles

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

This is a fun masculine card idea I got off Pinterest and did up for my team swap last month.  I got to be expert at rolling these cool candles by the end of it!  I've used the Print Poetry papers here, and easy to swap the sides and make this feminine!

stampin up masculine birthday fathers day bring on the cake top note
I've used the ever-loved Top Note Die here with the For My Family word set and the Bring on the Cake stamp set.

stampin up masculine father's day
To make the candles, I used a very small bit of the DSP and rolled it up around a skewer.  Adhere it seam side down and insert a small "wick" of the White Baker's Twine with the Tombow liquid glue.  Easy and effective!

A nice way to add dimension to a masculine card without ribbon.  🙂

Supplies Used:

Stamps: For My Family, Bring on the Cake

Colours: Midnight Muse, Gumball Green, Crumb Cake

Tint Your Own Custom Paint – My New Chalkboard

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Well, I know I keep saying it, but we are nearly there with the new craft room!  I had my inaugural class in there last night, so we are functioning now.  Just need a curtain for the laundry area, some chairs, a rug, and to paint the two new walls (little ones).  Then I think that's IT!

On Sunday night, Rob painted me a chalkboard and built a frame to go around it. I have pics of him doing this on my Stamp Happy Facebook Page.

stampin up house paint tint
Well we had white paint, chartreuse paint, and the beige wall colour paint. of course, I wanted something else.  Pool Party came to mind as quite nice.

It was Sunday night.

Sooooo, we got the white paint and played with the Stampin' Up! Ink Refills!  Fun!!  Mostly Pool Party, but also some Island Indigo and Always Artichoke were put in. It's still relatively pale, but it worked great!

stampin up custom chalkboard ink refill tint
I LOVE IT!  I have the best husband ever!!!  (Well, he's my personal favorite anyway!)

stampin up custom color ink refill tint paint
This was easy to do, if you want to do one as well. We just got some light mdf board and painted it with chalkboard paint (see pics on my business page on facebook), and then framed it.

Hope you've enjoyed and are inspired to use your creative tools in a new way!

How to make a 5×7 envelope and Sentimental Journey Masculine Card

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

SAleABration is nearly at it's end!  This Friday is the last day to place your orders of $120 or more to receive any of the 19 items on the SAB brochure for FREE!

Featuring the SAB set Sentimental Journey, this project is inspired by Sandi McIver – I loved the look of it and the use of the Naturals Composition DSP here.

stampin up 5x7 envelope diagonal plate how to masculine card
We've brayered the Natural Compostion DSP with the Early Espresso ink for a really rich, amazing look.

And we've used the Sentimental Journey image of the old fashioned bike here for a nice vintage look.  The words are also from a SaleABration set – Vintage Verses, which is probably the one I used the most out of any of them.

stampin up masculine naturals sentimental journey
We also made the matching envelope, which was fun. That adds such a wow! with the Simply Scored diagonal plate, it's really, really simple.

For those keeping a list, to make a 5×7 envelope, you need:

DSP cut to 10×10 inches

score A side 3 3/4 inches

Score B side 5 1/4 inches

Cut out the notches and voila!  It took me a bit of time to work that out, so thought I'd share.

Now just two days left of SAleABration, so please get those orders in before it's too late!  🙂

Supplies Used:

Stamps: Sentimental Journey, Vintage Verses

Colours: Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Vanilla

Other: Framlits dies, Festive Piercing Pack, Neutrals DSP, Distressing tool, Metallic brads, Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon, Natural Composition DSP
