Crafting Forever – Gifts for my Open House Tomorrow!

Tomorrow I am hosting an Open House (Drop in between 10-2) for the new catalogue, and I wanted to make a few gift items for the day, too.  What set is more perfect that the Crafting Forever?   So cute!

So five attendees tomorrow will receive one of these gift bags:

Each little bag contains two card bases, six pieces of Designer Series Paper, and 1 meter of ribbon.  All the corresponding In-Color, of course!

Each bags has a simple piece of cardstock folded over the top, embossed in the new Garden Trellis folder, and then the paintbrush image from the Crafting Forever set watercolored in.

I really didn’t want to cut these out five times over, so I watercolored a little bit of Smokey Slate around each image to give the illusion of 3D.    If you do watercoloring at all (or want to), I strongly suggest you get yourself a Smokey Slate ink pad for your tool kit!

Above we have Powder Pink, Berry Burst, and Fresh Fig.

And these two new colours are Tranquil Tide and Lemon LIme Twist.

I look forward to giving these out tomorrow!   And it’s not too late to let me know if you are coming – drop in between 10-2pm in my studio in Birkenhead.  There is not cost to this event – Just come and make a few projects and enjoy a cuppa!

Bookcase Builder Altered Notebook – Cute Small Gift Idea!

My personal favorite projects are taking something rather ordinary and making them extra special!   All you need is an inexpensive notebook.  I’ve used the small 1B4 notebooks and cut them in half here.   I’ve shared something like this before, but I’ve done up some leftover kits with current images and came up with these cuties:

I used the Bookcase Builder stamp set to embellish these little purse-sized notebooks for something a bit different.   I love how one can put various little things on each shelf, perhaps making the images and project personal to a particular person or to yourself.  Plus it’s fun!

I was thinking these would be a nice little book for writing down those funny things kids say, memories, keeping lists, spiritual thoughts, inspiration, creative colour combinations as you see them . . .

I also made up a more pastel version using the Subtles colour palette.

I simply cut a notebook in half and then covered it with the Kraft cardstock (you could use any colour, of course).   Then stamped the images on white, matted and adhered to the front.

I really enjoyed making this and love how they turned out!   Fortunately, this Bookcase Builder is staying with us for another year, and I look forward to using it on more projects!

Don’t forget to check out the Retiring LIst and the Clearance Rack before those items on your wish list are gone – and grab a bargain while you’re at it!

And if you’re in New Zealand and are my customer or don’t already have a demonstrator, let me know if you’d like a copy of the new catalogue. I can’t wait to share all the new, exciting colours, images, tools, and products with you!

Thanks for stopping by, and stay dry tonight,

Altered Clipboard in new Lemon Lime Twist!

Like
Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Hi friends and happy Sunday!  I hope you’ve had a great weekend.  Today’s share is featuring one of the NEW five In-Colours being released 1 June: Lemon Lime Twist.   And the good news is you have an opportunity to get your hands on this colour 1 May – fully a month before the new catalogue comes out!   I think this colour will be a great one to pair with many of our existing colours – think of yummy, bright summer colours:

So I was asked to teach a class to a group of young tweens and they wanted to make something for their bedrooms and requested a clipboard.   I thought the new Lemon Lime Twist would be the perfect colour for a young teenager.  I’ve paired it here with the Dapper Denim, which seems to tone the colour right down while still keeping its vibrancy.  I think this colour is going to be just stunning with both darker, vibrant tones and with similar, lighter colours.

Each board had a pin board, which I cut out of cork tiles.  We also altered some inexpensive pens by adding the printed paper inside.  This is to keep the pen from going wandering!   It was also fun to do a little bit of stamping right on the cork!   The girls did a great job with this.

I also included some clips (embellished, of course) and post-it notes.  I hope the girls get a lot of fun and use out of their creations.   I’d be happy to teach this in classes this month by request (I did wonder if this project would appeal to those out of their teens.  Gift, maybe?)

The paper I used here (the accent strip)  will also be available as a special pre-order as of tomorrow, 1 May!   Check back tomorrow for more details and/or check out the ONLINE STORE in the morning!

Thanks for stopping in – you make me so happy!

Mini Egg Cartons for our Easter Dinner

Hi friends!  I hope you had a wonderful, relaxing Easter weekend whilst celebrating the season.  I know Easter is over and gone, but I wanted to share with you anyway what I did with a few of the Mini Egg Cartons for our Easter table:

stampin up strength and prayers easter mini egg carton religious

We had four women and four men attending, so I made four like this using the Strength and Prayers stamp set.  I have always loved this dove and regret not finding use for it earlier in the year!  What a beauty for Christmas, too.

Inside the box I stamped the scripture that comes with the set, embossed in Copper.   I’m one who tends to be a little more private about my religious feelings, but the inside of a box felt comfortable.   And isn’t it nice to open a box and find that little bit more – a bit of colour, printed paper, a saying, or anything a wee bit unexpected.

After copper embossing the dove, I added just a whisp of the Watermelon Wonder to give the bird a bit of coordinating colour.    The leaves are from the gorgeous Flouishes die set.

We had four male guests, and I decided a pink bird might not appeal to them so much.  So they got this bird instead!  I’ve used the goose here from the Wetlands stamp set, added a bit of colour with an Aquapainter and our Classic Inks, and adhered him to a simple background.  I just used strips of the Urban District paper and the coordinating Washi Tape.

Sadly, almost everything I chose to use on these projects is being discontinued!   The discontinued list will run through the end of May or while supplies last. If you haven’t already checked it out, you can do so HERE.  (Plus grab some great discounts and bargain, too!)

Thanks for stopping by,

P.S. Would you enjoy coming to a class for some “time out”?  Please join us!

Mini Egg Cartons with Special Reason – Ready for Easter!

It’s Friday! One easy-to-miss item in the Occasions Catalogue is the Mini Egg Cartons. Think Easter and beyond Easter – these are so cute!   I’m imagining lip glosses, real eggs, Ferrer Rochers, bath bombs, or soaps in these little cartons.

My share today is inspired by my friend, Pam Jorgensen, who made up a similar box in blues:

First, I sprayed the box in Sweet Sugarplum,  Clearly, it was very dilute as it came out more of a pale pink instead of a purple colour.  Just be careful when colouring these boxes to not get them too wet all at once. If you want more colour, then let it dry and add another layer.   Like “real” egg cartons, these are made out of pressed paper and the seams will disintegrate if they are soaked and handled roughly.

The top of our beautiful egg carton is embellished with the Special Reason Bundle.  I’ve layered flowers and leaves for a bouquet effect.

The ribbon here is a SaleABration ribbon, so it’s no longer available.  My apologies for being tardy in blogging this project. (But I still wanted to share before Easter!)

Tips:

  1. You can create dimension in your flowers in many ways. Here, I’ve sliced down the petals and used my bone folder to curl the petals downwards.
  2. The Classic Label Punch is great for adding that little tag.
  3. Everything is built upon the Crumb Cake Stitched Circle.  So in theory, someone could toss out the box when it was time to do so and remove and reuse the top portion on a card or a gift packaging.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a wonderful weekend. I’m off for a haircut in preparation for the CentreStage dinner (Leadership meeting) tonight and OnStage (new product training) all day tomorrow!

Cool Treats Pocket Letter Swap in New Zealand!

Like
Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Well this week has just run away!   One of the MANY fun things we did at camp was organize and take part in our first ever Pocket Letter Swap!  What’s a pocket letter?

It had to be explained to me many times!  Basically it’s done Project Life sort of style in the plastic pocket sleeves.  Create little works of art featuring a theme or a suite of products on one side. The back side usually has trinkets, treats, product, and a letter!

Here is what I swapped with someone else:

We decided as a group to use the 6×8 sized pages instead of the 12×12’s for our first attempt.  It’s a good size to get one’s feet wet anyway.

The Cool Treats Suite is probably my favorite suite in the entire catalogue!  I love how both neutral and versatile this one can be!   And don’t you just love that wee spoon?!

The coordinating dies make it so easy to make everything look just right!  I don’t know about you, but these images so remind me of my childhood.  Bright red lips, cherry red tongues, and sticky fingers all around.

And on the back I have included some coordinating product and a small note of affection.

Now this was my first attempt, but I must say I’m a bit hooked on the idea of Pocket Letters!  And I think the team is, too.  If you would like to be part of our awesome team who loves to craft and share so much, I’d love to have you!

You can read more about us HERE.

Thanks for stopping by!

P.S. I also made some NOTEBOOKS with the Cool Treats Suite!  And if you’re coming to the Tauranga Extravaganza 18 March, you’ll be making a window card with this winner as well!

Nailed It – A Masculine DIY Gift & Card!

Like
Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Most of us struggle with ideas for fun and appealing cards to give to the blokes in our lives!  I hope my share today will give you some inspiration – you will love the new Nailed It Bundle!  Being married to a retired builder myself, this set is absolutely perfect for any handy sort of person:

Valentine’s Day is not a big celebration in New Zealand, but for those who do like to do a little something (for Valentine’s, birthday, or for no particular occasion at all), this project would make anyone’s day!

The giant chocolate bar is wrapped decoratively, and the card is designed to fit into a little pocket on the bar for a complete gift.  The card serves not only as a card, but as a decorative front for the bar.    The sleeve pulls on and off, so in theory, it could also be recycled.

I must admit these were so fun to make.   We watercoloured the tools using the new Watercolour Pencils (so easy to use!) and had great fun making them all unique.

And don’t you love that ruler in the background?!  That is also part of the Nailed It Bundle.

I used the Brushstrokes Background and Gorgeous Grunge to create the background, but it would also look equally nice if you used the Hardwood Background.

I hope you give this a try!   Remember you will receive a free SaleABration item with any order of $110 (no limit).  It’s a great time to get superior value for money on your stamping supplies!   Have a browse through my shop!   You can also request a catalogue HERE.

Have a wonderful Auckland Anniversary weekend!

P.S. Is your wish list really long?  Do you have a friend or two who like to craft?  Consider joining my team of demonstrators – whether for your own purchases, for you and a few friends, or as a small or large business, joining my team could be the best decision for you!  Find out more:

Cool Treats Summer Altered Notebook – Take Two!

Like

Our trip to Perth was short, but fun, despite the reason being a funeral.  It was great to catch up with friends and deepen relationships with the family there.

Today’s share is a second version of the notebook I shared last week – both so cute and equally fun and fresh:

The new Cool Treats Bundle is so much fun!  Great for all ages, genders and interests, this set is so versatile!

Again, I’ve simply made a new front for an ordinary notebook.  The background is the new Tasty Treats Specialty Paper.   I’ve also used the Tasty Treats Washi Tape and the Sprinkles Embellishments.

One of the benefits of using Stampin’ Up! is the coordination among the products.  The Cool Treats Bundle is easy to use with all the available accessory products!  And don’t forget you get a FREE SaleABration item with every $110 purchase!

** Place an online order of $50 or more and receive a video tutorial of this project FREE!
