Colour Inkspiration 17 – Brights with Flower Shop

The challenge round features colours that I wouldn’t naturally put together, but I do love this colour combination!  How fun, fresh, and bright!

I was inspired by samples at a recent team event to give this sort of “shaker card” a try:

Instead of an acetate window, I’ve used netting or tulle here to suspend the sequins.  Fun!

The flowers are from the Flower Ship stamp set, one that’s been a favorite for a few years.  Pair this with the Pansy Punch for quick embellishments!   But you’ll notice the leaves are new – this is the new Leaf Punch in the Holiday Catalogue.

This has been a fun colour combination to play with – something out of my “usual” recently!  Enjoy the rest of the hop – Lou Kitzelman is next!

All Stars September Blog Hop – Hearts Come Home

Welcome to the September Blog Hop for the All Stars team!  You are now in New Zealand with Jacque Williams.  We have a brand new 12 project, full colour tutorial bundle for you and we are kicking it off with a Blog Hop among the designers!

My blog hop and my tutorial project feature the Hearts Come Home Bundle – one that I have found to be so versatile both for Christmas and for non-Christmas projects!  Simply swap the above sentiment out for something else and use this design year round.

I love non-traditional colour Christmas cards. In fact, I don’t think I’ve made a green and red Christmas card for years.  I love the fresh look of this colour combination (Soft Sky, Pumpkin Pie, and Berry Burst), especially here in New Zealand where we celebrate Christmas in the summer.

If you’d like to see what else I’ve made with this bundle (and what the other 11 designers have created), simply place an order with me for $50 NZD or more during September OR you can purchase the tutorial bundle below:

And please do continue to enjoy the hop! Your next stop is the talented Janneke de Jong!

Colour Inspiration 16 – Night in Bethlehem

Like
Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Welcome to Colour Inspiration Challenge #16!  This go around we have a more muted, possibly masculine colour combination, which was perfect for a “to do” project I’ve had on my desk for months.

So my daughter asked me to make a “day planner cover” for her boyfriend some time ago . . . .

I wanted to make something a bit inspirational for him, and I felt the Night in Bethlehem set was pretty great to make something that is quite flat and easy to go in and out of a bag.

I used one of the samples right out of the catalogue as inspiration:

I added a bit of gold to the colour combination for the words. It also adds just a little bit of texture here, too.

Of course, make this into a card easy enough!  This is a great one if you have many Christmas cards to make, too.   You could add some glitter to the star (I used Wink of Stella) and add some pearls or rhinestones.   (Because this would be going to a teenaged boy, I opted for no rhinestones!)

And not in keeping with the colour challenge, here are the other day planner covers my daughter made for him:

Thanks for stopping by! And I hope you’ll join in the colour challenge on the Colour Inspiration Facebook Page!  Your next stop is the talented Lou Kitzelman!

Colour Inkspiration 15 – Beautiful Bouquet in Regals

Like
Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

This fortnight’s colour challenge is one I think you’ll love!  Well this has long been a favorite colour combination of mine: Elegant Eggplant, Bermuda Bay, and  yellow green (here Lemon Lime Twist). I’ve been looking forward to this one:

You’ve landed in New Zealand on the Blog Hop.  And you, too, can share your creation with the above colour combination in the Colour Inkspiration Facebook Group!

My share is using Embossing Paste, my new favorite technique:

The background is embossed with the Hexagon Embossing Folder first, then the paste is applied over top using the Brick mask.   I added a few drops of the Pool Party ink refill to give it a soft blue to contrast with the dark purple.

And the copper?  Yes that’s embossing powder.  How fun was that?!

The main image is from the die and stamp bundle, Beautiful Bouquet. This one is reminiscent of the Thoughtful Branches we had about a year ago, which I loved so much.   The dies here are done in the Lemon Lime Twist and the Bermuda Bay.  I added Wink of Stella and a few pearls to the flowers, too.

The background wash is done in Pool Party and is on Watercolour Paper.

Of course you can mix this up to use different colours, but I do love these rich, jewel tones.

What can you come up with using this colour combination?

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the hop.  Your next stop is Narelle Farrugia

All Stars Design Team August Blog Hop – Carols of Christmas

Hi and welcome to New Zealand!  You’ve landed at Jacque Williams’ Blog.

Early release!  Today’s share is a “clean vintage” card using the Carols of Christmas Bundle from the upcoming (1 September) Holiday Catalogue.   (But you can purchase this early right now!)   This is a gorgeous Christmas set with a variety of holiday images in both the stamp set and the dies.

I went with my favorite colors (now) of Fresh Fig, Sweet Sugarplum, and Rich Razzleberry paired with Crumb Cake.

The words in this set are quite large, which is great for making them a real focal point in other projects.  Here, I just used the ‘Peace” from the “Peace on Earth” and embossed in Gold to tie in with the gold in the Metallic Edged Ribbon, the Gold Sequins, and the little bits of Gold Glitter on the ornaments.

The little ornaments are easy to cut out with the coordinating dies.  There is a stamp for the strings, but in this case, I used the real thing with a bit of Linen Thread.  I love the texture it creates.

The background is embossed with the Holly Embossing Folder, and then lightly sponged with the Whisper White Craft Ink. That white ink pad is really great for subtly bringing out details.

Inside the card I Gold Embossed the rest of the sentiment, although Peace on its own is perfectly logical, too.

Each of the demonstrators on this hop has also contributed to the All Stars August Tutorial , including 12 full color instructions for 12 gorgeous projects!  Free with any $50 or more order during August OR you can purchase below for $20 NZD:

Welcome to another blog hop for worldwide demonstrators who have achieved the Thailand Grand Vacation!  (16 days until we go!!).  You have landed in New Zealand on the hop!

Today’s share is a fun Bench Fold card using the new Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack:

I thought this could be a great little card for masculine themes, teenagers, or babies!

I loved the Cable Knit folder used here for a little table runner.   Cute!

All the images are from the Bookcase Builder stamp set – so you can mix and match both colours and images to create anything you want on the little shelves.

And like magic, the card folds down flat (or relatively flat) to fit inside a standard envelope.

The new product here is also one of my top three picks for the new catalogue – the Wood Textures Designer Series Stack.  These are FABulous papers perfect for the guys, kids, flowers, vintage  . . . . just love them!

If you live in New Zealand and don’t already have a demonstrator, I’d love to be yours!

Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy the rest of the hop!

Vintage Background Bits – Colour INspiration 11

Welcome to another Colour Inspiration Colour Challenge!  You are now visiting Jacque Williams in New Zealand.  This fortnight we have #11 – a yummy mix of Soft Suede, Marina Mist, and Early Espresso.

Please join us over the next two weeks uploading your own projects in the above colours (plus black, white, vanilla or any metallics) by joining us on the Colour Inkspiration Challenge Page.  It’s also quite fun to see what others create!

I chose to use one of the new host sets, Background Bits.  I just love the versatile and vintage feel to this set:

The main image is heat embossed in Clear Embossing Powder and then inked over the top in all three of the challenge colours.  I used a circle out of scrap cardstock to mask off the moon image while sponging, too.

This is such an easy to way to create a wow background!

I also used the script stamp in the set to do a little bit more stamping onto the background.

Finish off with a bit of glitter. And just a bit in keeping with the vintage style!

Background Bits is a host set, meaning you can receive it free when you host a Stampin’ Up! workshop OR when you/you and some friends place an order of $300 or more.  It’s a truly gorgeous set!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I know you’ll enjoy the rest of the hop.  You’ll be visiting the talented Lou Kitzelman next!

If you live in New Zealand and don’t have a demonstrator, I’d love to be yours!   I’m having a Free Open House for the new catalogue 17 June 10-1pm.   Come along and make some projects, take photos of new displays, and have a cuppa!   Feel free to bring a friend, too.   Free gift for the first five registrants.  Register HERE.

Monochromatic Watercolouring – Colour Inkspiration 08 with Helping Me Grow

Like
Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Happy Wednesday!

Welcome to another blog hop for the Colour Inspiration Crew!  This fortnight’s colour challenge is a subdued monochrome using Delightful Dijon, Tip Top Taupe, Soft Suede, and Early Espresso:

I chose to use the retiring Helping Me Grow stamp set, one that I have used so many times while it’s been around.  What a great set for techniques!   My first version of this used more of the Delightful Dijon to make happy, sunny flowers:

I’ve used a Soft Suede base and watercolour paper as the mediums.   The Watercolour Paper adds both a nice weigh to the project, but is also the most excellent choice for blending colours.  A simple ribbon and a few pearls accent the watercoloring.  It also felt a bit bare when I was finished, so I added a few black splatters, which somehow just really finishes it off.

I’ve used our four challenge colours for the image in varying degrees.  The Delightful Dijon is actually quite a nice yellow – not overly bright and with a tinge of brown to it.   As you can see, I did a bit of mixing of the colours.  My watercoloring tends to be a bit on the messy side, but I quite like it that way.  Try it!  And don’t be afraid to leave a bit of white space in your images, either.

I made a little tutorial video for this project and tried another version of the same colours – this time colouring the flower petals directly in Soft Suede.  LIke my post from yesterday, brown flowers can actually look quite good!

I do hope you play along with our colour challenge.  Just create using the colours above, and post your project to the Colour Inspiration Facebook page!

I know you’ll enjoy what Kelly Kent has in store for you next!

Thanks for stopping by!

P.S. If you’re in New Zealand, and don’t have a demonstrator, I’d love to be yours!  Please request a free copy of the latest catalogue HERE.
