Noosa! Day Four

08 21 09_0167_edited-1 Yesterday, our last day in Noosa Heads, was full on busy!  This day was my compromise with Jared; I much prefer to lounge around, but he loves to go and see and do.

We joined a group of 15 others and rented a four wheel drive "bus" that took us to Fraser Island, an Island made completely of sand dunes.  The driver was entertaining and interesting, which was a pleasant surprise.  The island itself was fascinating; we all were half expecting a T-Rex to turn up at any moment. 08 21 09_0170_edited-1 I enjoyed hearing what he had to tell us, but mostly I enjoyed the company of the others on the bus.  Okay, I admit I got a little nauseated with the bus rocking and weaving through all the sand, but overall it was a fun trip.

08 21 09_0164_edited-1 We got to stop in a few places, one being at this fresh water lake with an amazing beach!  It reminded me of Rarotonga and the incredible beaches there.  Except that the water was cold.  All the boys got in and all the girls sat on the beach and watched them not be "shown up" by anyone else.  Boys are so funny!  When one got in, the others were not about to stand around and say it was "too cold" . .

Another stop was to take a photo with this enormous tree!  I have never been to the Redwoods – this was definately the largest tree I have personally ever seen.

08 22 09_0153_edited-1 We got back to the hotel with just 50 mintues to clean the sand out of all the nooks and crannies before our big surprise farewell dinner.  Transformed, we were taken by bus to . . somewhere . . . and were met with these beautiful cars!!  08 22 09_0156_edited-1 Wow!!!  What a total treat!  And how thoughtful of Janiel, our event organiser, to throw in such a feature that would be so fun to many of our male guests.

08 22 09_0158_edited-1 Jared and I were escorted with Dave Baugh and his wife, Jennifer, in a 1946 Bentley to our farewell dinner location – the Plantation restaurant.  The backseat of that car was like sitting in a lounge chair.   The restaurant was also incredible!  I have never been so spoiled in my life.  Okay, this place was like a museum of the 1940's – an old plantation house that was just beautiful.  We enjoyed canapes and drinks while we explored the house AND got to look through five telescopes at the stars and planets.  Janiel had organised an astronomer to be there to explain what we were viewing.  Just amazing.  That could have been a night unto itself!  Janiel had also arranged for white pashimas at each lady's seat – to wrap around if the evening got chilly.  The amount of thought put into this event was overwhelming!

08 22 09_0159_edited-1 The dinner was great, of course with all kinds of amazing foods that we never make at home for ourselves.  I loved spending time chatting with so many of the Australian demonstrators, too – just getting to know the real people behind the names and reputations is really special.  I won't start naming people because I'll inevitably leave someone out, but let me just say that there are some really genuine, kind, talented, inspiring women amongst us.

08 22 09_0160_edited-1 The night ended with two gifts left in our rooms – the first a box of cookies and milk which I didn't photograph because they were gone too quickly. The second was this beautiful Chocolate brown Stampin' Up! bag.  Oh my goodness, we are so spoiled!

Now I'm on my way home, back to see my kiddies and to see many of you this week.  Thank you again for a fantastic week – love and hugs to you all,

08 20 09_0133_edited-1 The day started early for me because I had a bit more work to do on the swaps.  Jared, even with a sore throat, was kind and rolled out of bed to help me.  Lucky we found a German news station for him to watch while he put brads through flowers . . .

08 20 09_0134_edited-1

But they did turn out cute!  I was pleased 08 20 09_0135_edited-1 with our efforts, and it was a family effort.  All three of my girls had a turn colouring in the little album included inside these tins.  They sure looked adorable all stacked up and ready to go.

Everyone did an amazing job with their swaps!  Truly, the talent and creativity out there is astounding. The fantastic  return for my swaps makes all the hours worth it!   I'll blog those next week and will also have them with me during workshops and classes.

08 20 09_0136_edited-1 We spent the morning as a group doing make and takes with Shelli Gardner.  I really liked all three projects – and we got to use some new up and coming product!  I am not certain what I am allowed to reveal at this point, so I will just keep my fingers restrained as I type . . . but at least know that there's some great product coming up!!

08 20 09_0141_edited-1 We took a few minutes to take a group shot of the acheiving demonstrators and our leaders during make and takes.  And as we finished up the projects, a freezer full of ice cream and toppings was 08 20 09_0152_edited-1 delivered to the patio. And WOW, was it beautiful!  I took a shot of this before anyone had any – so beautiful and yummy, I am sure.  (I had a small bowl of the strawberries and then moved far away from the freezer).

The afternoon was spent at the gym, at the pool, taking a nap, and general lazing about.  Jared and I took a long walk along the waterfront until it was too dark, then we went out to a Mexican dinner with Rachael and Patrice and their husbands.

08 21 09_0132_edited-1 The day ended with another special delivery, this time packaged up in a beautiful wooden bowl and filled with kitchen treasures.  I am not sure if there is a hidden meaning here or if we'll need these things for tomorrow night's surprise activity . . . . tune in tomorrow to find out!

Lots of Love,

Noosa! Day Two

08 19 09_0131_edited-1 Another most excellent day!

I started off by hitting the gym and found suprisingly many of our fellow Stampin Up! guests in the gym already.  What a fit group!

This morning we took a short Ferry ride (thank goodness short because I get motion sick like no other) to Ricky's Restaurant for some cooking lessons and a beautiful lunch.  My group got to make rolled scallops in some kind of smoked pork with a lovely salsa.  The chef showed us just what to do, and each group made a portion of the meal.  08 19 09_0123_edited-1 We also had truffles, Duck Ravioli, salad, olives, and a whole lot of other items that I either can't spell or identify.  But it was delicious!  And very cool – what a neat experience and a gorgeous restaurant.

08 19 09_0120_edited-1 After lunch Jared and I worked a bit more on those swaps and then hit the gym again.  Afterwards, we lounged about in the Stampin Up hospitality room and chatted away with fellow Australian demonstrators while Jared ate all the American candies the SU staff so kindly brought over.

At 5:30, Jared was in bed shivering and sweating, so it looks like he may be sick tomorrow for his birthday.  Fingers 08 20 09_0115 crossed he'll kick it by the morning.  Looks like my swaps helper is out of commission.  where's Madeleine when I need her?

I got another very special delivery today!  What a haul!  Six ink pads, a new punch and stamp set (to be released in the Summer Mini) and two markers!  We are so spoiled!

08 20 09_0112_edited-1 To top it off, Rachael made me a pamper pack because she wanted me to have a nice little beauty treatment even though I opted not to go to the spa.  How very very thoughtful of her.  That really touched my heart; thank you Rachael for being so sensitive and generous.

It's suddenly a very late night again; I'll sign off and finish off those swaps once and for all . . . especially since swaps are in a few short hours.  Nighty night!

In Noosa! Day One

I am here in Noosa Heads because of my loyal customers and my fantastic downline.  So, I'd like to hijack my blog and share with you this experiece each day.  I can't thank you all enough!

Okay, the day started out a bit rough.  Jared has flown SO much that he is rather casual about getting to the airport.  Then we missed the air bus and had to wait.  Then the bus broke down.  We arrived at 8:35 for our 9:20 flight to Brisbaine.  Yes, I was in tears and grinding my teeth to bits.  How blessed I am Sara was right there to give me a big hug when I got off the bus.  Which saved me from imploding.

Ahh, but after we were checked in and even had ten minutes to eat breakfast, the day got better.  Flight was great – watched a movie and worked on my swaps (no, not done yet!).  we took a bus up to Noosa Heads and after being greeted with juice in coconuts, we both fell onto the bed and slept.

08 19 09_0109_edited-1 I got up and did a little cardio and chatted at the pool with some of the lovely Australian demonstrators, Nikki Tidbold, Claire Daly, Vanessa Webb, and Vicki Dean.  Then I took a good two hours to bathe and pamper myself up for dinner – our big welcome dinner to kick off the trip.

08 19 09_0107_edited-1 I was privileged to be seated next to Sterling and Shelli Gardner for dinner, along with Ngaire Anderson and Alisa Tilsner.  Alisa hates how she looks in pictures; isn't that beautiful girl silly?!  We had a lovely buffet meal with scrummy food.  I bypassed the dessert table, but the display was impressive.

08 19 09_0110_edited-1 The evening ended with the pleasure of finding a gift on our bed for tomorrow's activities – a fun apron, a personal card from Shelli to me, and a chef's hat.  (Recognize those buttons?)  Tomorrow we'll be taking off to a restaurant for a cooking contest and lunch.

Okay, gang, it's nearly 1 am. I'll sign off and check back in tomorrow!  Lots of love,

08 15 09_0076_edited-1 It was a full-on weekend and so much FUN!  A big thank you to all who attended; you were all fabulous to be with!  I had a great time getting to know all of you better.

We started off on Friday night with a Spring Mini Catalogue launch and made a couple of beautiful cards.  We all fell into bed!  Too bad some of us were awoken again either by snoring or by Sofie's crying!

Saturday was non-stop stamping and crafting from 9 am to 9pm.  But didn't the day go quickly?!  We made up an album, lots of cards, and a layout.  I was more stresed about the food than anything else, but everything went off well.  Everyone pitched in and helped out and all enjoyed the soup/stew I threw 08 15 09_0074_edited-1 together. (Whew!  I hardly consider myself a great cook).   I always worry there won't be enough food, but I think by Sunday afternoon, everyone could have rolled home.08 14 09_0083_edited-1

Sunday morning we did one more class and made two Christmas cards.  Throughout the weekend we had some quiz questions and games that Madeleine made up.  You were all good sports to put up with our 08 15 09_0078_edited-1 silliness!

Thank you all for coming along and making the weekend so successful!  Join us for our next one definately september 2010 and tentatively April 2010.

08 15 09_0075_edited-1 I can home exhausted, but also truly lifted up by your good spirits and hearts.  Lots of Love to all of you!

C__Documents and Settings_Elaine and Harold_Application Data_FUJIFILM_FinePixViewerS_Temp_0528-090041_DSCF0100 Another clever use of the Pink Flamingo papers!  Not only clever, but beautiful!

Elaine's first card uses flower and circle punches to create a simple, yet effective design.  I beleive those scallops in the background are made with 3/4 inch circles – a great way to get different sized scallops.

Now, I know I have never thought to put a sentiment twice on a card – have you?  But it works!

C__Documents and Settings_Elaine and Harold_Application Data_FUJIFILM_FinePixViewerS_Temp_0528-090041_DSCF0095 Elaine's second card is a real stunner; she's got a talent for detail work.  The image here is from the Spring Song stamp set, a big seller amongst my customers.  Elaine has coloured it in here and then sponged additional ink on to make a shaded background.  The bright Pink Flamingo paper behind looks fabulous!

Nice work Elaine; thanks for sharing!

August's Challenge Team pack was a real challenge, in my opinion. This month I gave them the Pink Flamingo papers and some bits of ribbon to match.  Okay, I know Shelli Gardner loves these papers . . . but I'm not sure I know what to do with them!  Let's see what these talented ladies come up with during August.

Pam's gone and outdone herself and made up three cards with the little pack I sent up!

Isn't that beautiful!  I love that Circle Circus set – I WILL get it out and use it one of these days!  Waht a clever and simple way to make a cool focal point.  And do you see the Pink Flamingo paper in the background?  Nice work, pam!

And never would I have thought to pair this paper with Embrace Life, but it works!  I really like that Turquoise and Hunter combination, Pam.

And I think this is my favourite of the three.  What a simple, clever design.  And a great way to use a really loud paper in a small dose . .

Beautiful work, Pam!

Isn't this FUN?!

P1030408 I love to see what each member of the design team creates featuring the same supplies!

What fun, bright colours – so indicative of Ness herself.  She's taken the pretties kit flower, cut it in half, and it looks like it's been stamped with a bright yellow ink,  The rest of the project features lots of tearing and bling.

Love that build a brad, Ness – amazing colour combination!  Thanks, Ness!

Next month – a real challenge coming up! tune in next wednesday to see what these lovely ladies create.
