I had the pleasure of spending the day with Val on Sunday – so great to see you!  She passed along these little cuties for me to share with you today.

Val's taken the Chocolate Chip Scallop Notes card and mixed it with Bashful Blue and Pumpkin Pie here.  I like the embossed background and the layering of the punched shapes.

The little cluster of elements in the corner is a great design technique – one that I use quite a bit in scrapbooking.  It's much more effective to have a little grouping than to scatter your elements all over the project.

Val's second card has a completely different look.  She's combined the Pink Pirouette Scallop Note with the Sweet Always papers and made a sweet baby card, one that's perfect for tucking in with a gift.  The main image here is from the Level One hostess set, Punches Three.

It's a neat idea to punch out some of the elements from the printed paper and then pop them up to mirror the dimension of the button.  Clever!

Thankks, Val!

Another wonderful treat using the Scallop Notes!

Paula has shared with us two lovely creations:

Just because I care

The first project is a joyfold card, layering with Whisper White and Night of Navy.  Paula's done lots of white heat embossing here to bring the stamp images out. It's a cool way to use your stamps – to stamp on dark cardstock with white or use white embossing powder.  Note to self: Must do that more often!

The two stamp sets are two Level One hostess sets, Best Yet and Organic Grace. She's done some really amazing things with that set.

I Care Joyfold

The stitching is faux -done with the mat pack and a white gel pen.  Very beautiful!

The second card is very fun and bright. Paula has layered Elegant Eggplant card to make the front of the Scallop Note the same length as the back and to add colour showing through the punched holes.

Thankful Me

The sentiments are from another Level One hostess set Sweet Little Sentiments and the images are from a retired set, Pocket Fun.  Paula's added the button from our new button set, Sherbet, to one of the flowers.  And she's also used the masking technique with the flowers and leaves.  Any girl would love a creation like this!

Scallop Notes:  set of 30 with Envelopes (10 of each Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette)  $28.95  Click here to order

Thanks, Paula!

Isn't this FUN?!

Circle Circus is one of my most-loved stamp sets – so fun and fresh.

Love this colour combination, Val.  Tangerine Tango, Pacific Point, and Kiwi Kiss.  I was just commenting last night to a friend & customer that I haven't used Tangerine Tango very much yet, and this is a great combinatioin to try.  Thinking it would be great for Masculine projects as well.

That's a cool way to use the grommet and the ribbon, too.  Val's filled the Sweet Treat Cup with fun coloured beads, making this into a festive shaker card.  Great project, Val!

Supplies Used:

Stamps: Circle Circus set of ten  $62.95

Colours: Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss

Other: Large Grommets, Sweet Treat Cups, beads, Circle Scissors, Kiwi Kiss Pigtails ribbon

Val pocket silhouettes Please meet the lovely Val McGunnigle and enjoy her first submission to the Creative Challenge Team!

Val has generously made two projects this month. The first is a lovely card done with Pocket Silhouettes (I think this is one of her – and my – favourite stamp sets!) and the  Bella Bleu papers.  I love how this little flower set layers up with colour to create a neat main image or a background.

The three Sherbet Buttons make a nice feature along the bottom – adding colour and texture.

And tying the ribbon into a neat knot like that is easier to acheive and uses far less ribbon than a bow, too. Looks great!

Val heartfelt thanks Val's next project uses a beautiful set called Heartfelt Thanks – one that features the effective two-step stamping technique.

She's used a bit of the Fifth Avenue Floral papers here and the scallop edge punch for some nice accents.

Again the ribbon is tied into a neat knot and then finished off with some decorative pins.  Beautiful!

Thanks, Val!

Next month's challenge: Sweet Treat Cups!

Please welcome Diana Farthing in her first appearance on my blog!  Again, this month I gave the Challenge Team the new Sherbet Buttons and the new Pink Pirouette Ribbon to feature in a project.

Dec 09 Challenge 1

Diana used the Pink Pirouette ribbon and certainly celery button on this one with the 'Great Friend' stamp set, punching holes around the card and then drawing a white line around the whole thing.  She said to me, "You showed us that at camp and I love it because it adds elegance without too much fuss." (about using the white gel pen).

Cool – good to know I do sometimes impart some useful gems!

Dec 09 Challenge 3

This card is a birthday card for Diana's niece.  She's used the retired Flitting By wheel, Great Friend for butterflies (on acetate and cut out) and sentiment and thn placed the gorgeous button in the middle.  She just wanted to use pink and white for this one, so the dsp from Tea Party was perfect.

Dec 09 Challenge 2

Dianaused the Snow Swirled set and stamped on acetate with the White Staz-On, and then layered certainly celery, pumpkin pie and white cardstock, very vanilla and Pink Pirouette ribbn an the pumpkin pie button.   The ribbon is wrapped all around the back of the certainly celery cardstock, so you can see it on the other side.  Looks really pretty!

Thanks, Diana!
