Birthday Cards

Auckland Extravaganza Project Parade!

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Hi friends!  These have been sitting on my desk for a while, but I’m excited to share some of the projects our lovely guests created at the Auckland Extravaganza in March.  We had such a pleasant day together!   I think you’ll find some great birthday card ideas here:

Barbara Bicknell and her team presented and taught this fun “stuffed card” using the Cupcake and Carousels suite, a suite that is now being discontinued and is at a reduced price!  I absolutely love these papers!

This project inspired my Mother’s Day card (will be posted soon).  How fun to have a card with little gifts included. Here, they have included sugar, tea, a stamped spoon, some coloring in pages, a cupcake topper, a pinwheel, and a biscuit. Wow that’s a lot!

Angela Palmer, Kylie Burke, and Kathryn Tyrrell taught this subdued project using the Dragonfly Dreams bundle and the Copper Foil.  The inside features an effective peek-a-boo design that is easy to do.

Sally Williams, Heather Stewart, and Michelle Pepper shared this pop up box card project with the group.   Great for any age or gender, this project uses the Birthday Blast dies for that bit extra.

Judith Ferguson, Rachael Knight, and Christine Gedye taught everyone how to make a fun pull-up birthday card featuring the Balloon Adventure bundle. Who wouldn’t love to receive this card?!  This could also be used for wedding projects.

We had such a great day; we love our guests and the enthusiasm they bring to the room and to each table.  I know as one of the teachers, I really appreciate all the guests and their encouragement.

Please be careful this evening with Cyclone Cook hitting New Zealand.  And have a wonderful Easter weekend!

P.S. Want a free class?  Please any order with me (in person or online or email), and I’ll send you a Masculine Projects class absolutely free!

P.P.S  Book in for our next round of Extravaganzas in July!

Colour Inkspiration #07 – Cake Crazy Birthday Card in Soft Vintage!

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Welcome to another Blog Hop with the Colour Inkspiration Crew!  This challenge I chose to use a stamp set, Cake Crazy, that is typically used with bright, fun colours (see here) and tone them right down with our colour challenge combination:

I hope you will also play along!  You can join the Colour Inkspiration Challenge Group HERE.

I incorporated all the colours into the cake layers, but focused on the Pink Pirouette for the card base.   I embossed the base with the Hexagon Embossing Folder.   Do you notice a bit of Tip Top Taupe ink in the grooves of the hexagons?   I sponged a little bit of ink directly onto the folder before embossing so it embossed and inked all at the same time.

I wanted to go a little more vintage with this project, just for something a little bit unexpected with the Cake Crazy stamp set.  All the edges are inked lightly with the Tip Top Taupe ink and I roughed up a few edges with my scissors.   I also really love to incorporate that Vanilla Lace Trim!

And don’t forget the inside of your card (and your envelope!) to create a “whole package” card!   While you have your stamps and ink out, it’s easy to just add a few more coordinating images in the same colours to the rest of your project.

I hope you’ve enjoyed your stop here at my blog! If you live in New Zealand and don’t already have a demonstrator, I’d love to be yours!

Enjoy the rest of your hop! Your next stop is the talented and generous Rebecca Scurr!

Cake Crazy Birthday Card Club – Kits Available and Video Tutorial!

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Everyone loves a fun, happy birthday card that is quick to put together!   I loved this Cake Crazy stamp set from the moment it was introduced to us at our Stampin’ Up! OnStage training last November.

Today I want to share with you a bright birthday card that I think just about anyone at any age would enjoy:

Oh how fun it was to build up that cake in different colours!   I had several goes at it – all of which look great, but this version is my favorite for now.

The Cake Crazy cake layers are designed to be on a lean, so you can create your cake to be somewhat straight or go deliberately on a lean.  It definitely has a Dr. Seuss look to it.

I chose to go bright and rainbow, but of course,  this project could be done in more subdued colours to create an entirely different look. I think I will give that a go soon.

Please watch and enjoy the video below!  This is just me stamping at home sharing with my fans!

I have made up some packs for kits which include the card base, the whisper white panels, the basic black panels, the strips of black and white paper (may be some different prints too), black twine, and the black sequins. You need to provide the stamps and the inks (or order them).

I do hope you enjoy!  Happy creating!

Beautiful You Vintage – In Three Variations!

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Beautiful You is a stunning stamp set of sketched images available in the Occasions Catalogue.  This one is so well-loved and enjoyed!   At the recent series of our team Extravaganzas, I taught different variations of this card.  Which one do you like best?

stampin up beautiful you coloring in pencils cupcake carousel vintage

First, version one is my personal favorite.   I’ve used the Cupcakes and Carousels Designer Series Stack here, using the Coral and Saffron prints paired up with the Lace Doilies.

I love this girl with a yellow, happy dress and a few drops of the Sprinkles Embellishments!

Version two was by far the most popular among our guests. Still using the Cupcakes and Carousels Designer Series Stack, this time I’ve used the Bermuda Bay and So Saffron prints.  Everybody loves blue, and especially that gorgeous Bermuda Bay!   On this sample I switched the words from being embossed to stamping directly on the paper, but at our events, everyone did the white embossing for consistency and ease.

We used the awesome Watercolour Pencils for colouring in the dancing girl.  Every single person of the hundreds who did this project was successful.  It’s really amazing how easy they are to use and the professional results they give.

And version three uses the Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper.  We still used the Watercolor Pencils – the choices of colors in the pack are so versatile and fitting for the papers and commonly used colors.

The base of the card is made with the Kraft Cardstock, something a bit more sturdy and a bit different.

If you like coloring in, you will absolutely love the new Watercolor Pencils.  And if you love vintage, you would also likely really enjoy the Beautiful You stamp set.

Today is the last day for the SaleABration gifts – earn a free gift of your choice with every $110!  If you have a long list or want to stock up, good to do it while you get the most value for your money!

If you live in New Zealand and don’t have a demonstrator, I’d love to send you a copy of the latest Occasions Catalogue.  Just send me your address HERE!

Thanks for stopping in and have a happy weekend!

I love my job!  Who wouldn’t love getting paid to craft with friends?  If you’ve ever considered becoming a demonstrator, now could be a great time!

With Stampin’ Up!, being a demonstrator means you’ll enjoy all of this and more. Whether you want to earn extra household income, create a full or part-time career, or simply get a discount on your stamping supplies, being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator can help you meet your goals.

I signed up as a demonstrator in New Zealand in 2007  for a social outlet and to get wonderful crafting supplies at wholesale. However, three years later, my marriage ended and I was a solo mother with three daughters. Stampin’ Up! provided the perfect opportunity for me to step up my efforts and generate an income while still being flexible as I cared for my young children. I am now remarried, and my Stampin’ Up! business has changed and grown along with the varying needs in my life. It’s been a huge blessing to all of us. I now work this business full-time, and it is the sole source of income I provide for my family.

  1. What is the minimum sales requirement to stay active as a demonstrator?    You need only submit $450 plus gst per quarter to remain a demonstrator.  (This is less than the average sales in a single workshop. If you hold just one event a month, you can usually meet your quarterly minimum.  However, you can also purchase the minimum amount yourself or with a few friends). You can submit your sales requirements in one order or in smaller orders over the course of the three-month period.
  2. What if I want to do this as a hobby and not necessarily as a business?   You are welcome on the team no matter how you want to run your demonstrator ship or to what volume.  If you choose not to hold events, you can work to generate online orders, orders from family and friends, and order product for yourself.
  3. Can I be my own hostess?  Yes.  You can hold your own workshops and be your own hostess, collecting hostess dollars as well as your own discount and any other associated benefits.
  4. How much does it cost to buy the Starter Kit?  The kit is $189 and you can choose what comes in it!  Choose up to $285 worth of product plus you will receive a business supply pack valued at $90 (catalogues, order forms, etc).  Join before 31 March, 2017 and receive a bonus 2 stamp sets of your choice in your kit!
  5. Can I still attend classes?  As space permits.  While I very much value having team members in class so they can learn how I work and learn stamp techniques, keep in mind we have many demonstrator-only events.  Classes are hosted by and designed for clients, so while my team members ARE welcome, please understand if space doesn’t allow, the clients will be given priority.
  6. Do I have to recruit?  No, there is no requirement to build your own team. However, there are many benefits to doing so, such as the close relationships and the support you can give each other. If it’s something you’d like to do, I will give you full support and resources to help you meet your goals.
  7. What if I don’t meet the minimums or things change for me and I quit?  You may stop at any time and will not be penalized.  You simply stop placing orders. However, there are many benefits to remaining an active demonstrator.

Colour Inspiration #6 – High Tide Masculine Watercolour Wash card

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Welcome to another wonderful blog hop by the Colour Inspiration Crew!  You are now at Jacque Williams’ blog in New Zealand!

Challenge #6 features Night of Navy, Pool Party, Calypso Coral, and Gold:

I had plans for this combination, but I recently received my copy of Stampin’ Success, the Stampin’ Up! magazine for demonstrators.  I was quite taken with the project featured there with this fun background:

stampin up high tide masculine nautical birthday technique

The background is created by smooshing ink onto our clear stamping blocks, spritzing with water, and then stamping!  Each one turns out quite differently.

The stamp set here is HIgh Tide, one that is suitable for the guys, but of course, not limited to!

And here is another version, more in keeping precisely with the colour challenge.

On the first example, I accidentally turned the background image upside down, but in looking at the two, I think I prefer it that way now.  Which do you like?

But actually my favorite thing about this card is the beams of light.  I intentionally made them “not solid” and I like the effect!

Thank you for joining the blog hop and I know you’ll enjoy your next stop at Simone Bartrum!
