You Move Me VIDEO – Interactive Pocket Card!

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Today’s share is featuring the new You Move Me Bundle from Stampin’ Up!.  This is a set that admittedly looks a little odd in the catalogue, but wait until you see it in action!  Quite unique, this interactive card will truly wow the recipient:

I’ve used Fresh Fig, Sweet Sugarplum, Soft Sky, and So Saffron in this project.

I’ve kept the front relatively simple; this project doesn’t lend itself to too many layers anyway.

The new Glitter Enamel Dots are just gorgeous!  I can see I’ll be using a lot of these!

So far the bird looks good, but nothing amazing – watch the video below to see her in action!

And the Very Vanilla piece inside pulls out (necessarily) and is in itself a folded card for your sentiments.  Check out how to make this quick project in the video as well as seeing the bird fluttering in action:

( I got a new phone case so I sound a bit like I’m under water; I’ll take the case off next video!! LOL)

Happy Birthday Gorgeous – with Free Video Tutorial!

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Happy first day of June and the first day of our new Annual Catalogue!  I had a great deal of fun putting through orders (mostly for myself!) this morning. There is nothing quite inspiring like a few new toys!

Today’s share is a fun Double Front Window Card using the new Happy Birthday Gorgeous Bundle:

Please also note the gorgeous, fantastic, versatile Wood Textures papers used here!  How I love these!  Wonderful with flowers, masculine, teens, baby — just anything at all!  I encourage all of you to put these beauties on your first order!

The front panel of the card features a window, which I encourage you to watch the video below to see just how I did that to create the matted frame.  The second layer of the card showcases a second wood print with a bit of stamping.

The Happy Birthday Die makes for a more interesting window here, but also consider you can cut the two words apart and use them separately for even more versatility!

Please take a few moments to watch my video and see how to make a card like this:

Thanks so much for stopping by – I appreciate each and every one of you!  I hope you are enjoying the new catalogue and I look forward to another Stampin’ Up! year of inspiration, laughs and fun!  Please join us for a class!

Remarkable You in Wood!

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Hi friends!  I’ve been absent for a week or so in the blogging world; I’ve just been occupied with an extra daughter and my husband at home last week plus being very busy preparing for a big scrapbooking and cardmaking class over the weekend.  But after getting the house back in order today and replenishing the frig, I’m back!

Today’s share is one that I CASE’d from the current (for a few more days!) catalogue while switching up the image and doing a bit of watercoloring.

I never thought I’d say this, but the colour orange has really grown on me!  Here I’ve used PeekaBoo Peach and Tangerine Tango for the flower.  I used the Shimmer White cardstock and Aquapainters for painting.    And yes I know magnolias are white, but this is art.  😉

The stamp set is a gorgeous set called Remarkable You – large open flowers and a couple of easy sentiments.

The background is a printed paper from the Serene Scenery Designer Series Stack – an extremely versatile and popular one! And it’s only available for a few more days!

There is a new paper stack coming on Thursday that is entirely woodgrains, but they are more natural colours, not the blues and greens in the Serene Scenery pack above. Both options are beautiful!   Hey, we like those wood papers in any colour they come.

Thanks for stopping by and please be sure to check out the Retiring Products List – there are just a few days left to grab these before they are gone!

An Old Truck Card – One for the Guys

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Today’s share is a masculine card that has sat on my desk; I’ve enjoyed it every time I sit down to work.   This colour Cajun Craze . . . . it’s really a great one to mix in with the darker colours, especially for masculine projects.  I really like it here on this old truck in the Country Livin’ stamp set:

I’ve stamped this cool truck using the Archival Black because it doesn’t bleed when watercoloured.  Then coloured this guy in with Cajun Craze, Soft Suede, Delightful Dijon, and Smokey Slate.  I used an AquaPainter here; you could also use a Blender Pen, but it won’t have the watercoloured look quite the same.

I used the Shimmer White cardstock here; it’s far superior to Whisper White for watercolouring.   If you haven’t seen the resource sheet for our cardstocks, please feel free to download. I hope it will be very useful for you.

It’s very faint in the photo, but I also did  a was in the background using Soft Sky (how appropriate).  All you need to do here is use a lot of water and just a little ink and keep it moving.  Just “wash” it around the background area for soft colour.

I also added a bit of the Fine Tip Glue Pen to the windows and let dry. Did you know it works like a clear lacquer as well?  Great stuff!

I’ll be sending this card to my father who is a real collector of old junk . . . I mean antiques.  There is quite a charm about old trucks, though, especially when they have as good of a paint job as this one on the card has!

I’d love to have you in a class with me during May!  Please check out my Calendar for this month and see if anything fits into your schedule.   Don’t forget we also have our Extravaganzas coming up before we know it!

Tarnished Foil Vintage Butterflies!

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

Hi friends!  And a big Happy Mother’s Day to all women and to all dads going at it alone.  It’s wonderful as a parent to be appreciated. I received a lovely, heartfelt letter from my middle daughter, Kjirsti.  It’s moments like those that make it all so rewarding.

Today’s share is a Tarnished Foil technique project – one technique that I’ve wanted to try for a while.  This is a great one for cards for the guys, but, as you can see here, it also makes a super background for a more vintage look:

This technique is reasonably easy to achieve.  The key is to start with our fabulous Silver Foil cardstock.

  1. Emboss with the Woodlands Embossing Folder.  I’ve seen it with the trees coming “out” as above and with the trees going “in” and actually, either looks great!
  2. Rub lightly with a black Staz-On pad
  3. Tap lightly with a Versamark and use Silver Embossing Powder over the top.  Heat.
  4. Tap lightly with a Versamark and use Copper Embossing Powder over the top.  Heat.
  5. Rub lightly with a black Staz-On pad.

Sadly, both the butterfly images and the two coordinating punches are being discontinued.  Both winners!  Please be sure to check out the Retiring List and the Clearance Rack.

I have layered the butterflies on top of the gorgeous background without any further embellishment. I thought it best to let the background speak for itself.

I will be teaching this project in my classes in May; I’d love to have you along!  Please see my Calendar Page for a class nearest to you.   I’d also be happy to schedule a regular or one-off class with you and your friends!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend!

P.S. The new Annual Catalogue is live 1 June!   Come to a class in May or message me to receive your copy!
